Around SBN: Which Players Will Join The 3,000-Hit Club?

Everytime Youk gets hit, I think he's done for the year.

Did anyone else think that Youkilis hand was broken when he was hit by the Hochevar fastball?  After the "Sh*t...F**k...Sh*t", I was waiting for the cameras to zoom onto a golf-ball sized welt on Youkilis' arm.  Instead, Youk gets up, makes a fist and walks to first base.  Sure, he may be out for a couple of games, but for the second time in 12 months, I'm relieved that we will not be losing Youk for an extended period of time.

Last year, I had the exact same feeling when Chien-Ming Wang hit Youk with a fastball in September.  I saw the play, heard the "pop" and immediately turned to my friends and set, "That's it....it's broken...he's done for the year".

Is it me or is it Youk?

It's kind of a game with pitchers

to bean Youk. It was actually kind of funny the first time he was beaned, because they knew it wasnt serious, and he used a colorful variety of swear words.

Has anyone notice he gets beaned mostly on the hand? its gotta be distracting when he slides his hands up and down the barrel.

He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.

Either that or in the ribcage as he scoots back on his left leg...

Next time he should block it with his elbow guard, pick the ball up, and chuck it at the pitcher (Hopefully Joba is stupid enough to try it if he is off the DL by the next series).

Whatever

if he was that rugged, he wouldn’t wear the giant elbow pad…

Yup

Also that stupid helmet. I mean only sissys wear those.

Almost every major leaguer wears some protective gear, even the “tough” ones. They are just smarter and realize they will probably have a longer career the more pads they wear. As long as it doesn’t hinder their swing, wear whatever you want I don’t care.
