Can one of you please tell me why members of OTM are putting up fanposts on Draysbay pissed off about something that happened ALMOST 2 months ago when Sweet Caroline was played at the trop after the Rays swept the sox. Jesus are you guys really this pissed off and Jealous that we are in first place. Stay on your own website? is that too much to ask really. Im so glad i didnt turn out like everyone else that lives around Boston and root for the sox.

Up til about three months ago it was the equivalent of rooting for the Cleveland Browns, minus the history.

Well…im almost 19 and during the 2002 season a no-name player with the name CARL CRAWFORD came into the league and i was 12 at the time and the way he played amazed me he would steal bases,hit homeruns and would just take over ball games…so i kinda took notice of this team…growing up i was a sox fan because everyone was and i didnt know any better.My Dad isa fan of the sox and he would always say the sox were just a team that let down there fans year after year (2003 for example)and that kinda pulled me away from rooting for the sox. Then Kaz came around and just flat our dominated the sox whenever he faced them. Then when i got into High School i just offed the sox all together and starting rooting for the rays in 04’. So for about 4 years ive been suffering with this team. And now sticking with them has finally payed off and now….ill never lose my passion for the rays. The past 4 years ive had to listen to peoples shit when i would walk around with a rays hat or shirt on. Now thats all gone and i couldnt feel any better about this team Playoffs or no playoffs they are going to be playing great baseball for a LONG LONG time.

i.e. “Red Sox Fan,” is not a member of OTM. He joined DRB yesterday – his only SBNation membership – and only left one comment. You can tell this by clicking on his name. Reading his comment, it’s quite clear he joined with the explicit intention of trolling.

I’d appreciate it if you didn’t judge us by the behavior of non-members. Most of us are not rabid Rays haters.

Can the guy who runs the blog change the name of a SBnation blog? Because the Rays are not even Devil Rays anymore, and DRAYbay is a very ugly sounding name.

If they change the name, my vote is for Raysian Revolution, since they play in St. Petersburg.

Nice idea.

One could rename many SBN sites after graphic novels:

OTM could be “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” (the Alan Moore comic, not the crappy movie), because we’re awesome and literary (and literate).
Pinstripe Alley could become “The Walking Dead,” since the Yankees aren’t making the playoffs. Or “Watchmen,” since they’ll be watching other teams in the playoffs.
Halos Heaven would be “Preacher,” but only the middle issues which are inane.

I hated that movie. Thought it was comically bad. Maybe my expectations were too high – I’m a big fan of both History and Violence.

The great majority of both Sox and Rays fans on the internet no doubt share the goal of intelligent discourse and mutual respect (or maybe I just hope so). All of this from both sides pisses all over that.

Consider this a warning to anyone who’s around who doesn’t want to discuss the Sox, the AL East, baseball in general, or topics clearly non-offensive that may be related.

Silliness

I agree with the sentiment that there are jerks in every fan base. I also think that Sox fans get more grief than perhaps any other baseball fans. I’ll never forget the media talking about how “arrogant” Sox fans were in 2005. My reaction was: "They’re the damn champions. They’re not arrogant…they have every right to act like they’re the fans of the best team in baseball until someone knocks the Sox off their perch.

I just don’t get it.

But maybe it’s the Yankee-hater in me that leaves me with such a soft-spot for the Sox.

a few points.

First of all, I’m over 40 and I think that song sucks, everyone just needs to move into the 21st century. Secondly, there are arseholes all over the internet, so Raysbay guy, just settle down. Thirdly, I did wait nearly 40 years for the Sox to NOT choke for once, so yeah, if my chest is a little pumped after winning it twice in 4 years, sorry about that, but hey, it was a long wait.
I have no qualms about who you chose to support Raysbay, as a matter of fact, I like the Rays and wish we had some your young guys, but for you to come over to this site and whinge about a single poster who zinged you hook, line and sinker, is just plain childish.
The one thing I know for sure is that every regular poster on this site is fervent about our love for the Sox and of course our support for anyone playing against NY.
