Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox, Aug 12, 2008 7:05 PM EDT

Charlie Zink makes his Major League debut with the Boston Red Sox tonight. My prediction: the knuckleballer will either kick ass or really stink. That's usually what happens with knuckleballers.

The info:

I suppose.

Supposed to go to the pitcher that in the scorer’s opinion throws the best after the starter who was pulled before 5. I just think “no one” is an acceptable answer for me.

thanks

The Red Sox are the best team in the league in my opinion. The Angels are overrated, their expected win/loss is 66-52 while their record is 75-43 but they are in the easiest divison. Red Sox are the most well-rounded team

As for the Rangers, im really excited about their future with all of these young arms in the farm system and a lot of them are from the Douchebag deal(Teixeira).

but look at all of our pitching injuries….i think its 10. list of injuries Mathis and McCarthy are also on rehab assignments

Just Wondering. Would yall do Bucholz for Chris Davis?

Feliz and Hurley. The 1-2 punch of the future

by Steal Home on Aug 13, 2008 1:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Chris Davis will be a great player

And I’d love to have him. But I wouldn’t trade Buch for pretty much anybody not named Tim Lincecum or Felix Hernandez. Buch has ace stuff, and he’ll most likely have a great career in Boston. The idea of having Bowden, Buch and Lester in a couple of years on the rotation is awesome.

What about Salty? I heard a lot of rumors about the Sox wanting him, what do you think it would take us to get him? 2-3 MLB ready pitchers and maybe also a batter? How good does he look?

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

by MerryGoByeBye on Aug 13, 2008 2:15 AM EDT up reply actions

I really hope we get rid of Salty

we already have Teagarden, MAX Ramirez, and Laird.

Salty looks like he has potential but he has really done nothing to prove his a future slugging catcher. His defense needs some work but he has a good arm and as far as offense goes, he is very dicisplined but seems a little behind on fastballs but he is onle 22.

I’d say for Salty, 2 ML-ready pitchers and a third base prospect

Feliz and Hurley. The 1-2 punch of the future

by Steal Home on Aug 13, 2008 2:52 AM EDT up reply actions

That seems fair

I heard a lot about Salty being turned into a first baseman, but I somehow feel he may stick at catcher (like Lowrie at SS, I always believe in the players sticking at their original position). And the Sox wanted him since he was in Atlanta, so if he turns out to be half the player McCann is, trading for him would be worthy.

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

NO

by bdalebs on Aug 13, 2008 4:19 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd give up Masterson

We’re all sort of gay for Bowden. Masterson is another big time prospect, but if any of them needs to go, then I’d say Masterson. I think Masterson, Bard and Yamaico Navarro should do it. Navarro is a SS actually, with a great bat and good defense. Bard will be a top setup man, and Masterson could be a very solid #3 starter. Salty stock is not crazy high because you guys have 3 great catching prospects, and all these 3 guys are high prospects on the organization.

I think the Sox have only 2 guys that are untouchables in the minors right now (not counting Clay, of course): Lars Anderson and Michael Bowden.

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

i love this headline on mlb.com “David Ortiz hit two homers in a 10-run first, but Texas took the lead with small-ball in the sixth.”

yeah texas “small balled” their way out of a 10 run deficit.

cant say this game makes me feel better about our playoff chances

by spinz on Aug 12, 2008 11:04 PM EDT reply actions

Why?

Even after losing Manny, we’re still the best team in the AL.

Right now the Angels are the best team in the AL

But anything can happen in a short series in October. Ask St. Louis.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

We used practically every weapon in our bullpen with a 10 run deficit, and our pitchers ranged from looking god awfully horrible to bad. Nobody looked good not even paps. This has to change in a big way to make the playoffs.

by spinz on Aug 12, 2008 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Okajima looked fine. So did Paps.

Cut them some slack, they’re facing the top lineup in the majors.

Although he’s yet to live up to the billing. But he has power.

And thats one thing i have to say about the manny trade, i think if marte and nady gave the yankees more than bay does for us, it would drive me insane.
