Pitchers have to realize
You cannot leave anything upper-half of the plate to Pedroia.
How are you watching the game?
Gameday, MLB.tv, TBS…?
If not
He can still hit a hanging off-speed pitch.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

varitek bunting?
with CASEY on base?
he flies out, anyway
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Tek with the power stroke...
Just short… What happened to MannyHater’s accusation of Tek using roids?
think he will torment the Dodgers now that hes been traded?
or become a Sox fan?
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Almost
I thought Tek had one there. Floyd has nothing.

looked like a balk there...
pedroia is going 5 for 5 today. i can feel it.
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
ells with the stolen base
weve stolen three bases already today
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Thank you Mr. Wagner for the safe call at second.
I’ll have to thank him in person next time I see him at church.
Bad AB by Pedroia
Ahead in the count, he grounds out on a bad pitch.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Line up today:
Ells, DP, Papi, JD, Lowell, Baywatch, The Mayor, Tek, and that kid that sits alone on the bench because nobody wants to be seen talking to him.
harsh, but true
what happened to Jed? some kind of (minor) injury, i hope?
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
He fouled a ball of his foot the other day
Just a day off. Should be back tomorrow.
you live with the homer, you dye with the homer? boo.
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Do they still launch fireworks after a homer
When they’re down 10-0?
Buch walks the Konerko, who is batting under .220
If either team is in single digit hits at the end of game, the defense will have been spectacular.
Buch is not ready to pitch in the Bigs
Hopefully they won’t ruin him like they did Hansen.
no need, my friend. no need.
... until next time
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
but he strikes out so it doesn't matter...
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
ehh crap
buch is DONE. throttled by quen’in.
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
At this point, I say we send Buch to Class A and call up Bowden and Zink.
See if Buch can get it threw his head that you can’t pitch like that.
Hey, Tito, why don't we just forfeit every fifth game?
Might as well, if you’re going to keep putting out the same loser every time. Even a freakin’ rat in a maze learns after a few failures.
please tell me Aardvark is in. Buch is not a major leaguer. curse that no hitter...
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
he started out too well, it wasn't going to continue.

He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
I don't know if that'll happen
Youk has become a Gold Glove first baseman.
Lars at 3rd? he has to be called up sometime. he has too much power to stay down in the minors.
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Lo-we-llllllll... :-(
Why the hell is Buch still in? Is he practicing for the 2009 Home Run Derby? Tell me Youk is gonna use Buch as his pitcher…
thats like 6 hits in the last 3 outs
yes! they took him out!
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
quentin beaned. he didnt try to get out of the way!
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Okay, we seriously need to revamp the team from within.
1.) Demote Buch, Cora, Timlin, and Lugo.
2.) Bring up Bowden, Zink, and Lars.
3.) Put Lars at 3B, make Lowell a super sub.
4.) Have Zink start in Wake’s place until he returns, then move him to the pen.
5.) Put Bowden in Buch’s place.
6.) Lowrie plays SS for the rest of the year.
Is Lowell quick enough to play middle infield?
trade Casey for some backup middle infielder.
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Don't think so
1) Cora is okay as a UI, Timlin has done a lot better lately, I’m not sure about what to do with Lugo, and I believe we should send Buch down to the minors
2) Bowden might not be ready, Zink has come back to Earth, and Lars is not ready
3) Lowell is too good a player to be a super sub
4) Zink will not be on the pen because Tek can’t catch the knuckler, and he also came back to Earth
5) If Bowden is ready, I’m all up for this. But I just don’t think he is
6) That you got right

Excuse me, but how did the Sox get their 3 runs??
Maybe, just maybe, Lowell is a bit hurt. He still has great momentum fostering, and I would rather have him up with men on base than anyone else. You can’t blame him for lousy starting pitching!
by NG on Aug 10, 2008 3:45 PM EDT up reply actions
Bad pitch = easy HR
I would just like to see Lars up in the bigs while Lowell figures out wtf is wrong with his hip.
1) Buch can be sent down. Cora is not going to be sent down. If anything, he’ll be DFA’d. Timlin also will not be sent down. He’s been pitching decently lately. Lugo is getting a lot of money. He will not be sent down. He’ll back up Lowrie if Jed stays hot. Might be similar to an Ells/Coco situation for the rest of the year.
2) Lars Anderson is 20. He is not ready for the Show yet. Strikes out a lot and needs to work on plate discipline. He’s playing in Double-A for the first time right now. Bowden is also not ready yet.
3) Lars Anderson is a first baseman. Lowell is a solid defensive third baseman and still has a good bat.
4) This is a possibility, but unlikely because their spots don’t line up. Look for Hansack to start.
5) Not ready.
6) A probability.
Maybe you should give some credit to Thome.
Thome is one of the best sluggers of all time; him hitting homeruns isn’t a sign that the pitcher sucks. Timlin faced the heart of the White Sox lineup in his inning last night – I was thankful he got out of that inning with only one run.
Agreed
And the pitch that got Dye to fly out was far worse than the one Thome crushed.

He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
Things still look up if pitching can rally!
When we win, we usually seem to win big. When we lose, we barely lose by one run. That cannot be a bad sign, especially when we are losing by one run with a poor pitching performance. Take today, we scored plenty of runs that could have won with a slightly better starting pitching performance. The pen has look good lately. Therefore, I think notching up the starting pitching a bit and having enough quality starters is the key to what this team now needs, IMHO!
