MY TAKE ON THIS YEARS BOSTON TEAM IS...
That we have our problems at catcher but i think we should stay with the system we have. Cash is a great knuckle ball cather and varitek is on a cold streak but things will work themselves out.At first base we have the perfect fit for the red sox defense the youk! no problems there.I wasnt shure about Dustin Pedroia last year i thought we could have had better. But this year he has really stepped it up and is one of the best second basemen in the league. At shortstop we have the last peson i think about when i say Boston Redsox. Lugo is an underacheiving shortstop who really doesnt fit into the Boston uniform. I would like to see him gone but thats okay. If we could get ahold of a player like alex rodriguez we would have a nice weapon at shortstop. we move over to third base and everything is just fine again. Mike lowell knows just what to do to make the right plays. And he hits a grand slam every now and then. The Boston outfeild has been a little confusing at times. But i see it as a good thing. we have a beast of a right-feilder J.D Drew. Who has shown up when it counts. Coco crisp who im not sure about. Dont get me wrong he is good but i think that Jacoby Ellsbury is better. If it was my choice i would start ellsbury at centerfeild. but it has worked out nicely the last couple of weeks with Big Papi out we've had manny at DH (being manny). So we were able to fit in coco and ellsbury both in the starrting lineup. But with Big Papi returning it will be touht to fit in ellsbury in our stacked outfeild that is what i am worried about. Our bullpen is just fine as i see it. we have good pitchers like Beckett,dice-k,wakefeild,papelbom etc. Although i do wish we would have gotten Mark Buhrle last year. All in all when it comes down to it i think we can win the american league east this season. and the talented rays will have to settle with the wild card.

And if we can just get that time machine to get Babe Ruth back we’ll have a nice LF, or if we could just get that Pujols guy by asking really nicely.

SS, catcher
The Sox are not going to find better players at either position in the middle of the season. High-quality shortstops and catchers are rare. Well, I know it doesn’t seem like high-quality shorstops are rare if you look at the NL East, but the Sox made the choice to trade Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett, and I think in retrospect that worked out well.
There are very few hitting catchers in the league these days. But yeah, Varitek has slipped to below-average in that category. Maybe they should see if they can get their very own Molina?

J Lu
That was quite an at-bat for J Lu tonight. 1-2-3 (the last two looking). Why is he still a member of the Red Sox?
Trade Lugo, Crisp (who looks like he is trying hard to look like he is trying), and DelCarmen plus cash to the Mets for Reyes.
Varitekā¦I have no opinion. Better start bringing someone up under him.

That would have to be quite a bit of cash…

Considering the posting fee
that Matsuzaka got, I’m guessing more like $80 – $90 million.

Jose Reyes
Is a punk, veterans do not like him. He has shown several times he lacks the “heart” to be a winner now. No thank you on Reyes. Jed Lowrie will be a fine replacement for Lugo, he just is not ready to start everyday.
I think everyone needs to relax a little. The Sox are in the WC right now, without Papi, without a consistent Manny, without 2 weeks of Mike Lowell, without a bullpen, without Schilling, without a completely healthy Beckett and Dice-K all year, and without Varitek hitting….
Does anyone really believe the Rays will keep this up all year? no way. Hitters will start to see their staff a 2nd and 3rd time and they will not have Trop field to protect them.
Rays are good, but so are the Sox.
As for the Catcher, I am all in favor of getting Kenji Jojima and then making a bid for Darvish and that will solidify the Sox as the Team of the Rising Sun and keep us rolling in cash for years to come.

Johjima?
Have you seen his stats this year? He’s OPS-ing .564. That’s 104 points WORSE than Tek.
Just say no.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
