Momentum sucking continues

LUGO kills momentum much too often with his striking out and especially his predictable hitting into double plays when it hurts the most. It is totally (IMHO) unjustifiable to defend this guy with his hitting into double play stats.

The YES network broadcast guys almost predicted he would hit into a DP his first time up today and presto, he does. It is not magic to make such predictions like this, only a simple observation of a momentum killing player who will hurt this team badly over the long run!

I am in absoute awe of Lowell’s skills. You can’t pay him enough to compensate for the momentum generating force he provides. Too bad Lugo and Varitek couldn’t be taught a bit of Lowell’s know-how, at least when it comes to keeping a ball off the ground and not striking out!

But Darrel Rasner is NOT a good pitcher. He’s throwing s(t)inking fastballs at 87, and his breaking stuff isn’t that great. And the walks attest to poor command.

That said, I hope the Yankees give him plenty of playing time.
