Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Theo: Just a Thought or a Dream(Team)...

I like to look or think about the what will happen later on.  Here is an outlook (or my thoughts) for the next two years.

  • Sign Tek.
  • Sign Tex.
  • Trade Coco & Lowell (though I like him) for a SP.
  • Come trade deadline 2009, trade Bay for Holliday.
  • If the deadline trade doesnt work, let Bay go and sign Holliday.
  • Papi will be in the last year & we will have to pick up his option in 2011.

How would a line up look in 2009 or 2010...Ellsbury, Pedroia, Papi, Holliday, Tex, Youk, Drew, Tek, Lowrie

Theo: If you like what you see as far as your assistant GM, please feel free to contact me! :)

A couple of questions:

What kind of contract do we sign Varitek to?
Where do we put Big Tex?
Where do we put that SP?

by Randy Booth on Aug 1, 2008 12:38 AM EDT reply actions

Bay is a better hitter than Holliday is away from Coors

Shit you not, check the numbers. I don’t think we should give Tek a big contract, which may be what he’ll look for. If he can get him in a Wake situation, then we should. I can’t see us trading Lowell.

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Some Answers

I agree with Merry, sign Tek in a Wake situation. We move Youk to 3rd, put Tex at first. Trade Lowell for that SP that may take Wake’s place…he does turn 42 on Saturday making him 42 (dont take it the wrong way…not trying to push him out) How much longer do we see him pitching?

Looking at the numbers…avg for the past three years
HR RBI OBP SLG AVG
29 98 .375 .503 .280 Player #1
30 113 .384 .566 .324 Player #2
33 111 .405 .569 .303 Player #3

1=Bay; 2=Holliday; 3=Manny

Can't trade Lowell

PR disaster.

Manny ain't the only bad man.

by tommy.otm on Aug 1, 2008 9:26 AM EDT up reply actions

Indeed.

A disaster right up there with trading Manny Ramirez, letting Damon and Pedro walk, and shipping off Nomar for a bunch of no-name players. As long as the team continues its winning ways, Theo can do no wrong.

But Lowell is all class.

Those other guys, not so much.

Bill Mueller

Same situation. Classy guy. I think the same result will come out of it. We will play him until the end of his contract and let him go. Don’t get me wrong, Mike Lowell is my favorite player since, well Bill Mueller. I can’t see us trading him.

Look at the splits

Holliday away from Coors: .278/.344/.449/.793
Bay at PNC, one fucking pitchers friendly park: .285/.382/.504/.886

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Agreed

Bay is better than Holliday. I hated to see Manny go. But Bay was the best available player to replace him.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Sure, there is such a thing as bad publicity

& lately every time you read about the Sox it was Manny being negative & the overall consensus seems to be the Sox cut their losses & moved on…yeah they won post Nomar & even won without Pedro & Damon; remains to be seen if they can win sans Manny & Schilling ( a different departure but he isnt on the field). IF they dont winy it isnt just bc MAnny is gone; they have some other issues.

Yeah, people have forgotten about Schilling

I still think he taught the Sox how to get over the hump and win it all. Say what you will about him, but he’s a winner….and his presence is missed this year. Now that I think about it, Boston hasn’‘t won a title in 90 years without Schilling.

Jason Bay

all i know is bay is batting .240 with runners in scoring position while manny was batting over .300 risp

by BostonNation on Aug 1, 2008 5:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Oy Bay!!!!

send him back NOW!! Dont even let him bat- or take the field-- leave a big HUGE gaping whole there- dont put Ells or Coco there—besides they are pretty fast so no matter which is in center they should also be able to cover left too or maybe we should get a petiton going to void the trade- ask BEG Manny to come back

Geez man lighten up…did Bay steal your gf something?
