Will Jason Bay be a good fit under the bright lights of Red Sox Nation?

red sox get rid of manny, moss, hansen, and pay off 7 million dollars off mannys contract to get jason bay?? i thought they would get more than jason bay just for manny, instead they lose 3 players and money to get bay who will be unpredictable coming from a last place team to a team thats contending for the penant. This will be Bays first year in his career where he is actually competing for something that matters which could bring alot of pressure to him especially playing on a red sox team that gets alot of attention from media, fans, etc.. on top of it, the biggest pressure of all is replacing manny's bat, that's some big shoes to fill. One positive thing out of all this is that manny wasnt coming back next year so atleast they got something for him instead of waiting out the year and then letting manny go to free agency and end up with nothing, but by October everyone could be saying we should of kept Manny. Bay has 1 more year left on his contract after this year and sources say if Bay doesent work out they could be trading him for a player like Holliday. Why couldnt of they just traded for Holliday this year or maybe even have a shot at Adam Dunn? Dunn would be slamming balls left and right at fenway with the power he has. Even though his BA is .243 he has 32 hrs. Bay is a great hitter, batting at .283, 22 hrs and 64 rbis this year for the pirates, which is good, but only time will tell if he can stand up to the pressure and be competitive in the AL. By October we will know if the trade will crumple Jason-bay-sideline-sketch-2_medium

OK

I apologize for using TO when I meant TOO & writing NO instead of KNOW

omg

it’s either yes or no, nothing hard about it, the other 2 are hes not going to perform to his potential cause of pressures of boston and manny

Look at your own post

Punctuation, my friend. It’s an art. Pennant has two “n’s”. “Alot” is not a word. Neither is “atleast.” And I’ll tell you why “they couldnt of just” traded for Holliday… The Rockies didn’t want Manny, and they would have asked for Bucholtz, Lowrie, and one or two other guys. Great post.

Would it be petty to mention 'Bucholtz'?

It would? Good.

What is the difference

between option 2, option 3 and option 4? I don’t feel I can give a fair vote otherwise. (Though I’m going to vote for option 1 regardless.)

I just voted yes. I couldn’‘t wait around to get further clarification. I hope that’s okay.

pretty self explanatory

by BostonNation on Aug 1, 2008 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions

1. yes 2.no hes not gonna do well at all, 3. crumble to the pressure of replacing mannys spot 4. or crumble from the pressure in boston, since he played on a crappy team like pittsburgh its a big step up for him. he’s never been in a position like this. it seems pretty self explanatory to all the people except for 3 who love to complain

by BostonNation on Aug 1, 2008 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't love to complain. It really hurts me inside every time I have to.

It’s terrible. Like someone is reaching into my chest and squeezing my heart. You have no idea of the pain.

God, the pain.

wow

ok, like i said i put a variation of answers on the poll instead of a simple boring yes or no. you’re the only one complaining, you dont have to vote or read my blog, i rather you didnt cause your vote wouldnt make any sense anyways. next time ill put another answer just for you, I just want to complain about Boston Nations thread, so i dont have to answer your ridiculous comments, click….

by BostonNation on Aug 1, 2008 6:37 PM EDT up reply actions

stressing?

maybe you should see a doctor if you feel your chest squeezing, you might have a heart problem, or it could be just stress, which is better cause i love to see people stressing over my threads

Agreed

For all the wrong reasons.

by sggut95 on Aug 1, 2008 11:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes

Bay should do good. He was hitting homers in PNC, with its 415 out to left, So he shoudl feed the Moster and feast off the results. Expect 38 or more Homers by the end of the year as a possibility. However, he is used to playing in Pittsburgh, with low publicity. I think he should adjust good enough. Lookin forward to his Sox debut!

I say we take off and nuke this thread from orbit.

It’s the only way to be sure.

How do I get out of this chicken-shit thread?

by 0157H7 on Aug 4, 2008 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions

cheating with the poll

Waited five days to vote. I think it’s clear by now Bay will help the Sox down the stretch. If we are very, very lucky, he’ll play at a Fred Lynn level for a few years.

And yeah, I feel bad for bringing in a white outfielder to compare with a white outfielder, but the skill sets appear to be similar.

p.s. am I the only one here who has been thinking for quite some time that “britsoxfan” was a fan of the New Britain Red Sox? PawSox = Pawtucket Red Sox, BriSox = Bristol Red Sox, but they moved to New Britain (Connecticut in both cases) and became the BritSox. They’re not affiliated with the Red Sox any longer.

Britsox

I always figured his name was due to his affinity for tea and crumpets.

You could say that... And obviously I'm a massive Britney Spears fan.

Oh look. This fanpost is almost off the foot of the screen. It will be missed (about as much as Cesar Crespo).

Dude, you just proved his point.

Don't question my choice of teams, or I will have to go all troll on you.

by bdalebs on Aug 12, 2008 9:07 AM EDT up reply actions

Honestly, I'd guess you were 11

It is not required to put up Fanposts, and people are allowed to just comment. I was nailed when I first came on the site, but you have to learn not to put up stupid posts, then insult other members.

You should also work on punctuation, capitilization, and basic spelling. 1=one. atleast=at least. Britsoxfan is a respected fan, and has been on this site for a long time. Insulting him would be like saying David Ortiz is not a true Red Sox. How long have you been a fan?

He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base.
