Game Story: Leavin' California
Not a moment too soon.
Summary:
Wake pitches well for 7 innings.
8th inning for both Wake and MDC: Better not to re-live it.
Days like these make me wonder whether MDC will really live up to his potential.
Aardsma went on the DL today; Masterson up to officially try his hand at being a RP.
DP (3-4, 2B) and "Being" (1-3, 2B, BB) continue to not suck at that whole hitting thing.

I really wish we could find a way to get from the 6th to the 9th safely for a change.

Our strong durable starters haven't been the answer lately.
And of course, neither have MDC, Hansen, or Oki.

The Beauty of Boston
I think that is the beauty of the Red Sox though.

Anybody know if Paps could still become a starter?
Adding him to the rotation and signing K-Rod seems like a possibility for next season no?

I don't want K-Rod.
He’ll likely want upwards of $12 million a year, and he’s pitched a lot of innings with a violent delivery. I expect him to become the Carl Pavano of relievers for whichever team signs him.
There’s only one spot in the rotation (Beckett, Lester, Dice-K, Wake, ?) and between Buchholz, Masterson and Bowden we should be able to fill it. No need for Papelbon to move.

there isn't a shortage of starters
there’s a shortage of relievers.
With Beckett, Lester, and Dice-K, we have three starters who should be reliable for a very long time. And Wake is having a great season (don’t look at the W-L). Papelbon is best in the pen.

Only if you want to be the lucky team that gets to
pay him $15M/yr and for his TJ surgery.

Trade for Street
He doesn’t have that much value right now, and maybe, just maybe, we might get Beane to make a fair, non-one sided trade. What about Reddick and Lowrie for Street? Think Beane would make that?
It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Yes!
Which is why we shouldn’t… That runs the risk of being even worse than the Gagne trade.
Bottom 9th B:1 S:0 O:0 With Bill Mueller batting, Dave Roberts steals (1) 2nd base.
