Is it just me
Or sometimes Lackey really looks like a fatter, uglier version of Jack Nicholson? :)
It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Hey there
What’s up with Buch only throwing FBs? I think that just now I saw his first curve.

He could use another season in the minors
Unbearable first inning. He’s been incredibly slow, even excluding the runs.
Painfully long inning
Buch has a very nice curve, and an awesome change. He’s not throwing it for strikes, so he has to rely on his FB, which is not the best pitch in the world.

Will the real Clay Buchholz please stand up?
The guy who dominated AAA a few weeks ago. The guy who threw a no-hitter, and compiled a miniscule ERA last season. Where is he?
Just get on base, Youk
Then Casey will tie this shit up with a 3 run homer. I’m calling it.

I think Buch will be alright
But while Lester worked out okay by staying in the majors, I think Buch could do some more time at AAA, even if only for people to forget a bit about the no-hitter.

Gets his shit together?
What? Like having a 2.47 ERA in 9 Pawtucket games?
The last thing Clay needs is another ride on the Pawtucket shuttle. He needs to work on his command, and he needs to do it against major league pitchers. As long as the rest of the rotation is fine (and the playoff race isn’t too tight), we can carry him.
Agreed
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

He only had one truly great game out of these 12
And while the numbers don’t lie, last season he dominated at AAA. He was great up until the no-hitter. It could be a lot of stuff that’s happening to him, and I think he will be fine. But if he’s somehow fucked up about the no-hitter, some time in the minors maybe would make him get his head straight, and stop worrying that much.

Can someone please tag him with a fielding error on that?
NOT GONNA HAPPEN THIS YEAR
There is no F—-ing way the Red Sox are going to make the playoffs this year. I am a lifelong fan, but you just can’t suck shit this bad on the road and win. Look at the Angles pitching staff and their road record. They are doing it without their offense going full speed yet. I think the sox better get prepared for a long second half.

Road records and the playoffs:
Since 2000, roughly 1 in 5 teams that made the playoffs had a sub-.500 record on the road. 2 World Series winners-the ‘03 Marlins (.469 WP) and the ‘06 Cardinals (.469 WP)-were bad regular season road teams. 3 World Series losers-the ‘00 Mets (.481), ‘05 Astros (.444), and ‘07 Rockies (.481)-were significantly better at home during the regular season.
Strangely enough, the ‘01 Braves had a .494 WP at home and made it to the NLCS. Then there’s the ‘01 Mariners, a great road team, that had a .728 road WP and got bounced in the post-season.
I’m just worried about the Sox’ overall record.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Gets his shit together! Come on
Look at the schedules for the rays and the yanks for the next two weeks. The sox better figure the road out fast or they will be 6 out by the end of the month. At this point I think Clay needs to go back to the minors for a long time. Masterson is way better.

panic mode!
John Lackey vs. Clay Buchholz was never a matchup that was going to favor the Sox. Let’s not panic.
Oh... My... God...
Jed Lowrie just struck out on 3 pitches, with the bases jacked and the Sox down by 2. It’s okay to do that. But the 2 swings he took were so god ugly, and with pitches FAR out of the zone. I really miss Lugo. At least he would have given me a grounder, or something. Not the worst AB by any Sox player since we kicked Willy Mo’s sorry ass out of Boston.
