Pedroia rockets a single.
Then steals 2nd, despite being out by a MILE, by sneaking his arm around the tag.
9 for 9?

Dear Red Sox hitters:
There’s this new thing, it’s called “run support,” and I recommend that you consider adding it to your game strategy.

Grrrr...
Frustration
It could we worse. I could own the team, allowing me to make retarded decisions to go along with my impatience (see, e.g., Hank Steinbrenner)

The Mets win... Theee Mets win!
Yanks will gain no ground. However, our real opposition, the Rays, are up 4-3 into the 8th.
Tampa is about to win

Pitt's got three outs left...
...to get one run. They could do it. Would I be likely to bet this half-eaten PBJ sandwich? No. But it’s always possible…

GameCast indicates
pretty unequivocally, that either the Rays have paid off the plate umpire, or that they’ve got Jonny “MadDog” Gomes sitting in his living room with his wife and kids held hostage…

Good start for Beckett
I’ll take 7 innings, 2 earned runs every time out. Now it’s up to the bats to get him a win.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

All right
The pen has to hold Houston in the 8th. Drew, Manny, and Lowell due in the 9th.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
How is this an Oki situation?
I don’t see an 8-run lead for either team.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?"
Back-to-back 5 inning starts
MDC and Hansen pitched both nights. I’d rather see J-Lo.

Dumb. Avoidable. Call it whatever you want.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?"
F this S. Oki needs to be getting the innings that Timlin should've been getting when he was in the pen.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?"
J-Lo need to be the "lefty" right now

Holy S. Stop this BS. No more Oki in close situations, until he has 10 excellent appearances in garbage time in a row.
And maybe not then.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?"
Well...
that sucked…
We enter the three-game series at the Trop technically in second place in the AL East. Let’s hope we’ve gotten all the lackluster offense and for-shit relief outings out of our system, or it’s going to be a loooonnng second half.
Rock me, sexy Jesus...
by nuthinboutnuthin on Jun 29, 2008 5:47 PM EDT reply actions
Are you guys seriously blaming Okajima?
This game was ALL on the “offense.” The Sox stranded 13 baserunners. They went 0 for 134,000,236 with RISP. I don’t care how good the pitching is – if they aren’t scoring, at most they would have lost in the 14th inning when J-Lo walks four straight batters.
Agreed
Oki didn’t look good, but he wasn’t that bad either. This is all on the bats.
Still, I really, REALLY don’t agree with Tito putting Oki in that situation. It made no sense, really.
It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Big Papi and Lowell, to me, are
the only real clutch hitters on this team, and we are currently without half that duo. That is just not enough to get folks home when someone gets on base. Others get hits in big blowouts and get occasional hits, but are usually left on base by the other 6 or 7 non-clutch hitters on the team. Momentum suffers when this happens both on the hitting side and on the pitching side especially !! How do you think Beckett is feeling after non wins in his last 2 good outings mainly because of no clutch offense??
Not sure what to do at this stage, although getting Ortiz back would surely help. I just think that the Lugos, Crisps and Variteks, although they can get on base now and then, they just cannot deliver in clutch situations enough! Youks and Drew do fairly well as does Padroia, while Ellsbury seems to be going over to the Lugo, Crisp, Varitek side at least lately! Again, there is just not enough CLUTCH ofense at least lately!
