I mean, I hate seeing an out, but at least you make the pitcher throw a shitload of pitches. If I had to choose a 3-pitch fly out or a 7-pitch K, I’d take the second.
Don’t know why most people think K’s are worse than any other way of not getting on base.

Ks are important with men on base because the runner can’t advance. You can also strike hitters out on three or four pitches (see: Cora, Alex).

While a K's with a man on first means he won't advance
It also means it won’t be a DP. I mean, I know that with a man on base the best thing to do is to advance him. But I rather see a guy not getting on base by making the pitcher throw a lot than see him pulling a Alex Cora.
That’s one of the many reasons Willy Mo is such an awful player. He never did shit and never saw more than like 1 pitch.

MDC, Aar and Javi are actually good
Oki is not pitching well, but he had a great season last year. Chris Smith also looked good on his first 2 games. Hanson is ok from time to time.

MDC – 10 IP 0.00 ERA 0.50 WHIP
J-Lo – 10.1 IP 0.87 ERA 1.26 WHIP
Smith – 6 IP 1.50 ERA 0.67 WHIP
Aardsma – 9.1 IP 1,93 ERA 1.18 WHIP
Paps – 8.2 IP 2.08 ERA 0.69 WHIP
Those guys have been solid. Hansen has been OK. Timlin and Oki have sucked.

Yep
And keep in mind that Chris Smith first guy he faced in the MLB was Glaus (who’s a decent-to-good hitter), with the bases loaded. Our bullpen is looking way, waaay better than it did earlier this season. Especially without Timlin.

By my count, since Papi's been out, we've played 24 games
and won 16 of them. Not bad!
