Brutal start

This is looking like a Jason Johnson first inning …

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

So...

Walk, homer, single, fly out, single, ground out, single = 4 runs, 27 pitches so far.

30 pitches ...

Now the #9 hitter is up

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Afternoon All

I am finally able to catch a game ( in the house studying for a final) & this is what I get?

Good news is the Yanks lost to the Reds.

"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

Not a good start

Mitchell Boggs isn’t very good. Hopefully, the Sox will win in a shoot out today.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Thank you, Brendan Ryan

The inning is finally over. Dice-K was a triple off the cycle …

With 1 out and bases loaded, Cards hit a grand slam

Last night, with none out and bases loaded, Sox hit into a DP.

Very true

And Manny GIDP last night. It’s not like it was Lugo who did it, or something.

So

Last night, it would actually be better for us if Lugo had seen the bases loaded, right? I mean, he even homered…

If the Rays lose today

I’m okay with this shit, as long as it doesn’t happen anytime soon again.

We can get back on this game, you know. I mean, the Cubs scored 9 in a inning today, with 2 HRs by Jim motherf*cking Edmonds, so why can’t we?

Chris Smith

Kind of a tough situation to be thrown into for his first ML start – bases jacked, none out, clean up hitter. But after Glaus’ HR, he’s been pretty impressive thus far.

Manny ain't the only bad man.

This is something to be worried about

This shit of the bats not showing only used to happen in games away from Fenway. Now, for the second time in a row, it happens at home. At the very least, the bullpen is looking good today. Amazing how Javi’s ERA is low.

Here's the things

We lost 2 games in a row to a VERY weak team, playing without their star who is perhaps the best hitter in the game today. And we did so by playing poorly at every aspect of baseball. Our bats sucked in these last 2 games, we pitched badly, and had some poor defense as well.

It’s not likely something that will keep happening, but you gotta wonder what went wrong in these last 2 games.

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

by MerryGoByeBye on Jun 21, 2008 11:08 PM EDT reply actions

What went wrong

Friday: Manny came up twice with the bases loaded and less than two outs. The first time he struck out and hit into a rally-killing DP the second time. It happens.

Saturday: Dice-K sucked, pure and simple. Jason Johnson couldn’t have pitched worse. I’m not sure what the problem was, but he Sox may have rushed him back after the injury to Colon. Hopefully, Matsuzaka’s shoulder won’t be a lingering problem. If it isn’t, this game is likely an aberration.

The Cards aren’t a great team. But they are one of the few MLB teams with a winning record on the road. As for Pujols being out, so what—the Sox were without Papi. Sometimes you’re going to lose a series at home.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Jun 22, 2008 9:47 AM EDT up reply actions

You're very much right about the Friday game

I would even say we got unlucky there. But this last game was worse, even if you give the Sox a free pass because Dice-K sucked. Out of our 3 runs, 2 came in a RBI double by ALEX CORA. I have no idea on what’s actually wrong about that, but I just… I don’t know. And on Friday, Mikey and Manny combined to something around 3453453452 LOB.

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

by MerryGoByeBye on Jun 22, 2008 1:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Additionally...

Without the DH (in a National League park), significant line-up injuries are kinda masked. For example, a standard 1-8 of Taco, Scrappy, Drew, Being, Youk, Mikey, Coco and Lugo is a legitimately powered major league line-up. In an NL venue, you add the pitcher – who usually is a guaranteed K. In an AL venue, on a healthy day, we would add Papi, arguably our best hitter and the visiting NL club would add its ninth best hitter. When we’re injured like this, we’re adding our tenth best hitter and they’re adding they’re ninth.

Still, injuries are part of the game.

In the words of Annie Savoy: “It’s a long season and you’ve got to trust it…

Rock me, sexy Jesus...
