2-out walk.

Daisuke, at least on gamecast, not looking particularly sharp and definitely not efficient.

2-out single.

Daisuke goes 0-2 to Guillen, then lets the count even up and also throws a WP.

Not looking good so far.

DMZ with 34 pitches in the first inning. Hopefully he’ll turn things around, get some quick outs, maybe pitch to contact more.

That last part if the real issue with him.

He has no interest in pitching to contact.

relievers will pitch differently when there is a big lead...

They will try to put more stuff right down the plate to get batters to swing, instead of trying to paint the corners. If Hansen or Aardsma came in with a one run lead, they would had pitch differently, and probably pitch more down and away to get a ground out.

The pitcher i am worried about is Papelbon, he seems to have some of his pitches right down the plate.

Paps doing, like, a Todd Jones/Joe Borowski routine out there.

I’m not laughing.

Papelbon looks very hittable

Papelbon is not looking very intimidating, and he is throwing the ball way too high, even though the speed is okay, which is one reason he is getting these bloop singles… I am pretty concern when the reliever can’t get the deal done without gettting the tying run to home plate.

My god

The tying run is at the plate…

I’m about to spew my lunch all over my keyboard here…

Wow. For awhile, I was worried that

J-Lo might have to handle save situations now too.

You know

Paps isn’t helping himself too much this season in his quest for a big contract.

He really isn't.

He’s been more…hmm. K-Rod than Nathan/inhisprimeRivera this season.

Yep

This may mean he won’t get the contract from the Sox. But I don’t know at this point.

0.86 WHIP

get real, guys.

KRod’s is 1.33, FWIW.
Joe Nathan? 1.17.

Papelbon is pitching damned well.

All right.

Got me there, but he’s definitely not been “the dominance” on a consistent basis lately. Maybe we’re just spoiled. I don’t remember him having more than 2 or 3 iffy situations in save spots last season.

Papelbon is a very good relief pitcher

He isn’t just pitching like a demi god as he did in 2007. He is also either letting his fastball coming in letter high or letting his slider hanging. His two blown saves from Detroit and Minnesota showed a pattern, with or without Lugo’s errors. If he keeps his fastball down, and work on his cutter, that seemed to be almost as good as the great Mariano in 2007, he will still be in the elan of relief pitchers.

At least he isn’t Gagne, I don’t understand why any team would signed him after he was showing he couldn’t seal the deal when he was pitching for the Sox in 2007.
