This pisses me because it likely means we won’t be seeing Lowrie anytime too soon. I hate Lugo, I really do. It’s not just his bad defense, or awful hitting. It’s his picture mocking me at gameday. I can’t live with that.

hi everybody

No, I don't
But he didn’t look bad there. Having to face Youk and Lowell with 2 men on must be no fun for a pitcher, but he did good there.

woah woah woah woah woah
wake just hit 66 MPH…we don’t want him throwing TOO hard now.

That was a fastball
For Wakefield….that’s moving pretty good!!
83 years old shutout
That’s what happened with the Tigers. Sometimes I forget how old Wake is.

i didn't realize that timlin is so old
i knew that he was one of the older players on the roster, but i had no idea that he’s 42.

they were just saying that the knuckleball
does better inside a dome…i would think that it would be better in an open air stadium since the wind would help it move more..am i just dumb?
A-Rod drinks wine coolers and Jeter wears lipstick.
Uh oh!!
Wakefield just gave up a three run homer…plenty of time left though.
Adam Everett hitting HR?
Wake is OFF.
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
We're gonna need a HUGE miracle
Down by 5, no Manny, no Tek, Tavarez coming in…
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
I don't think Wake's "got it" tonight...
yuck

Plenty of time left
How many times have the Sox come from behind this year??...plenty of baseball left…
i don't doubt their offense
it’s the pitching that i’m worried about.

i don't know why
but i feel like lugo somehow has a hand in this losing right now.

Hahaha
I think he’s playing using Cash jersey.

it can't be Cash's jersey
he just had an RBI, which Lugo is allergic to.

When on defense, they switch places without anyone noticing
Speaking of switching places, is it just me or did Wake look more like Milf-Hunter today than he usually does? Maybe the real Wake is out there doing some porn.

7-1…let’s bring in Tavarez so we can lose SOME MORE

and what did he do with the real Coco?

HOOOOOOOOLIAN
Nice pitch there.

I effing hate Taverez
Last time he came in, he coughed up 3, in a game we should’ve won 8-5, then paps blew the save later in the night, very, very frustrating.
see, this sucks
We’ll end up losing this game like 11-10 and if hoolian had kept them down, we’d would’ve won…he just sucks.
I don't know why he wasn't trade
I’d BEG for the Rockies to take him.

How bout Coco with a great game
2 run homer brings us within 2!
Timlin
I love you dearly, but it’s getting to be closing time.
Glad our bats managed to make this one look respectable
We would be winning this shit with at least a little bit of pitching. But it’s not over yet.
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
That last HR was huge for the Twins
We had the momentum, after Coco hitted that 2 run shot. But giving that HR changed it, although I can’t actually explain why.
I really don’t know why they’re working Timlin, who I very much doubt to be able to give us anything yet, instead of working Hansen, who’s young and filled with potential. Both are risky in a close game, but Hansen would make more sense.

See
You take away that HR, and it would be a tied game. :)

Mikey making it interesting
JD: you’ve had two weak ground outs. Please do something useful here!
And then he stops running
And makes out at third. But it’s a 1 run game with Manny PHing!
And Manny grounds out
Well, that was a doozie.
Great game
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
see
the effing hoolian. He gives up his one run when it doesn’t really seem important and we end up losing in a high scoring game by 1. he sux, he should just go and fade away somewhere now.
To this I say
F’ Wake. If he didn’t put us in a huge hole to begin with…
I mostly agree with you sydney, just wanted to make the point that there’s a lot of blame to go around, and the only pitcher who really did his job tonight was Aardsma.

How can Wakefield be so schizo??????????
I ask again, was Wakefield so good against the Tigers the other night, or were the Tigers so bad??
Even if Wakefield can pitch say one good game out of 4, is that acceptable to the team effort if the other bad 3 games are as pitiful as this effort by Wakefield?? Little leaguers could have hit well against Wakefield this game. Can’t say that ever about most major league pitchers
The knuckleball...
Really is a mystery. As I understand it, its effectiveness has as much to do with the conditions as it does with the pitcher. Unlike guys like Beckett, et. al., who are actually locating their pitches, the knuckler is more approximation, as its thrown to minimize spin, and the action of the air on the stitches is where that funky motion comes in. He’s guessing.
And yeah, I think it is acceptable – but not necessarily for a fourth starter. The real issue with Wake, other than the occasional crapfest (but see Bucholz v. Tigers, Yankees; Beckett v. Toronto) is the entourage. Cash’s hitting has ameliorated that somewhat, though. I think – and generally this is a good idea (see also Schilling and Colon) – that the Sox have to jettison Tavarez, and get a decent long reliever to supplement our starters who are vulnerable to age or episodic suck.
And btw, I had nothing to do with F’Lugo’s concussion – at least not so far as anyone can prove in a court of law…

Wakefield is always up and down
2007 Monthly ERA
April: 2.59
May: 4.09
June: 6.00
July: 5.52
August: 2.45
Sept / Oct: 8.76
I think it is the nature of Wake’s knuckleball to either be terrible or awesome on any given night. He is a particularly inconsistent pitcher, but overall he can be a solid player. Last year he provided more value than the $4 million he cost the team.
