Coco needs to go/Catching needs
I dont want to keep seeing Coco playing the platoon with Ellsbury as we have seen in Japan/Oakland. I know Ellsbury is young but look at Ryan Zimmerman, Ryan Braun, Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Upton. All drafted with Ellsbury and all playing regularly why can't he? I think the Sox consistently coddle their young players to a fault. Ellsburys defense is not that far off of Coco and he will give you at least the production you got from Coco at the plate. Ellsbury did it on the biggest stage so you know there is no threat in exposing him to early to the pressures of Boston. That leads me into my next point I heard today that Buster Olney is reporting that the Sox have contacted a few teams about acquiring a catcher. Maybe trade Coco and a pitching prospect for a potential young star. I know good catching prospects are hard to come by so this maybe the opportunity for the Sox to strike.

From what I have read, Texas is one of the only teams with catching prospects that could move into a starting role soon. They do not need Coco and to be honest I do not want to trade with Texas EVER again after what they did not tell us about Eric Gagne. They got D. Murphy and K. Gabbard, two guys we could of used this year and gave us a fat head-case who has decided that his 92 fast ball, which he can never accurately throw, is his "A" pitch over the change up that won him a Cy Young.
Move Coco to Chicago for Sean Gallagher.
Pitching is what the Sox need, bc you can never get too much pitching.
Catchers are easy to get, Free Agency has numerous Catchers each year, plus with Wake, the Sox's hands are kind of tied bc they need a catcher who can deal with a knuckleball.

No thanks
Cubs already have a weak hitting great defensive CF (Pie). We also have another great defender, weak hitting AAA (Fuld) WHO ACTUALLY TAKES PITCHES (he should be playing instead of Pie now just to get the walks). Cubs hate looking at pitches. Fukudome may teach them something yet.
Is Jacoby starting today or Coco?

Seattle
The Mariners will probably extend Johjima, but they also have one or two good catching prospects (one named Clement I think?). After trading their top young CF prospect to acquire Bedard, they could be in the market for Coco. Perhaps we could give Crisp and [insert pitching prospect here] for Clement. If they are set on holding on to him and letting Kenji Johjima walk, we could sign him instead.

Would the Mariners trade with us? Both teams are potential playoff teams. I would of thought that Ichiro would be moved to CF and they would get some power bats for the RF and LF.

after today's game
I'm not real worried about catching. Not in the short term anyway. I'm more worried about the bullpen. Snyder's out [designated for assignment, which I thought meant going to Pawtucket, but apparently means something else]. Who's next?

Delcarmen, Timlin, Okie and Paps are still one of the best bullpens in baseball. I agree that I would of liked to get one more guy to go with those 4, but we are much better off than many teams. Look at the Yankees, ugggh, that pen is a gas can waiting to be ignited, Jaba or no Jaba.

Catching
There is a solution to our catching needs, but he is still in college. His name is Buster Posey, and he is the catcher for Florida State, and i quote this from a couple of scouts: "By far the best backstop in college baseball. Period." He's batting .440 or so and has plenty of power. He recently homered and hit the ball over 450 feet, and this guy is still a junior. If he enters the draft this year (I'm not sure how old he is) then he would be a great pick for the Sox, though he will probably go sooner.

I wouldn't trade Coco until
the sox get past this 48 games in 51 day stretch they are just starting in. This would give Coco time to build his value and protect Ellsbury from a rookie like break down during the stretch run and post season. I know it is frustration to watch a young player sit the bench and I am sure neither Coco or Ellsbury are happy about it but at this point you don't need to make a rash move. Plenty of teams would love to have Coco but I am sure his value isn't that high right now and acquiring even a young back up catcher isn't equal value.

Let the stock rise
E5 - I'm on board with you...Coco is a vet with gold glove potential, there will be plenty of teams looking for a CF after a few months of ball and some injuries mount. Also Cash looked pretty good last night, I think the catching needs can wait.

Bye bye Coco
I'll miss you Coco. I remember the time you.... And then there was when...
Oh that's right! You haven't done a thing since coming to Boston! I remember when Theor thought you'd replace Johnny D's bat in the lineup. Well, he can't be right all of the time!
We'll need a C for when Varitek decides to hang 'em up in a couple years. By the way, being that Jason's contrat is up after this year, they need to lock him up!. Get 'er done Theo!
