SNAP goes the losing streak, and J.D.s quad

The Sox losing streak came to an end yesterday, with a 1-hitter by Jon Lester through 8 innings. Papelbon, however, "stole the win" from Lester, but the important thing is that the Sox finally won.

But now, what we thought would never come has come: J.D. Drew is injured. Everyone knew it was going to happen, and now it finally has. According to ESPN, it is labeld as undisclosed as of 6 o'clock, but this could be bad. I know I may sound like a pessimist, but when you have been following JD you have to be. When he was a dodger, he seemed to get injured by getting off the bench.

    Anyone worried about JD's injury?

Relax, worry about the Celtics instead.

Drew has been the 2nd most consistant bat in the line up so far this season. After the game he was listed as day to day with a tight quad. I think we can afford him a little time off without getting on his back, considering every other player on the team has been out with an injury. Including Lowell, Crisp, Casey, Ortiz(if you count days off for his slump) and missed starts by Beckett, and Dice K. Relax.

Worried

A precautionary note: I agree with your statement and believe that Drew “needs” a couple of days off. He started out the season very hot and has cooled down as of late. Late him heal and relax and hope is bat comes out strong after.

That being said. I think he hasn’t been that great, maybe I am just too used to “dirt dog” Nixon. He has only played 23 games so far this year. That is the same amount as Varitek who has been sick and doesn’t play every 5th game. He has also not been the 2nd most consistant bat in the lineup. If I were to rank them I would put it: Manny, Youk, Casey, Pedroia, Ellsbury, then Drew.

This injury could be quite costly because it will not allow the people that deserve a day off (Youk, Pedroia, Manny, and Ellsbury) to get the day off they need. All of them, except for Manny being Manny, are starting to cool off because we are gasing them out. With Drew out of the lineup Terry is going to feel pressure to make sure we still have big bats int he lineup.

Hopefully it is only a minor injury and he can get back in the lineup, because he has been pretty awesome this year. Although did you see Moss’s catch last night in the 8th?
