first!

Good morning, well at least here, to anyone out there.
So a five game losing streak followed by Halladay and the Jays who always give us the sh*ts….can it get any worse?
Look Youk stole a base, maybe its some cosmic reverse thing and we’ll actually beat these guys for once. c’mon Sox.

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I always thought about typing “FIRST” when I was the first one on a thread but didnt want to get labeled a cornball ( which I prob am for using words like “cornball”) .

I saw your post & laughed out loud!!!!!

"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

yep.

Its a reverse cosmic thing, Drew grounded out to the LEFT side this time.

lol and Lugo would make a nice play

At this point, I'll take a 1-0 win

as long as its the home team winning

Drew gone due to injured leg?

oh yay! just what we need.

Will Kielty get called up?

Quad injury

Kielty is injured too. The Sox need a healthy Drew. Hopefully, he won’t be out long.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

6 good innings from Lester ...

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Apr 29, 2008 8:42 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

Anyone heard anything else about the quad?

Something where he might’ve played through it later in the season, but now, it’s April, and also thank goodness we have a backup as good as Brandon Moss is?

It didn't look serious

He tweaked it running to first. He came out to RF in the top of the next inning, but was gone after that. My guess, Drew will be day-to-day.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Oh yeah. Excellent 6 innings thusfar.

It's going to be hard to outlast Halladay

He is a horse. His last three starts have been complete games.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Yeah. And, well, on pace for another.

Tigers up 6-2

by Drugs Delaney on Apr 29, 2008 8:47 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

Not necessarily hoping for it.

But you have to wonder if he’s hurt, maybe? He’s got good mechanics, good stuff, just isn’t getting it done, and isn’t even making incremental improvements per start.

He'll be fine

He is only 21-years old. He probably could use another half-year in the minors

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

How many effin' plays has Eckstein made so far?

It seems like 90% of the Sox’ outs have been hit right at him.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Apr 29, 2008 8:49 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

9 outs as the result of Eckstein.

Kind of surprised to see him out there. I would think with Halladay being heavy-GB, this would be a game for John McDonald.

Lester Ks Rolen

... who just missed a HR on strike one (a “Kevin Millar shot” down the LF line, just foul).

Am I the only one who...

isn’t down with Coco “Bunt Singles Only” Crisp being guaranteed the most/tied for the most PAs today? Ells, Youks, or DP. That’s it. We don’t have any other leadoff hitters in my book.

I’m impressed

Yep. 4 walks still pisses me off though. Half that, and I'd be "elated".

I'll take 4 BBs if he only allows 1 hit

A 0.71 WHIP is impressive. Call him “effectively wild” ...

It is.

But, DD, you know as well as anyone that the hit rate is unsustainable, no matter how good Lester’s pure stuff is. (And when he’s on, it really is)

True

I think Lester will get better as he learns to trust his stuff.

Well, and if he can keep this game going as his.

Could be a big step in the right direction. I think he’s more timid/afraid to throw strikes than unable, for sure.

Who's the best RHP in the AL now?

1. Beckett
1a. Halladay ?

If you only consider regular season I might give the nod to the Doc.

by Red Peltic on Apr 29, 2008 8:59 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

this game

This game is a prime example of a “God damn Halladay’s gonna complete game us again” syndrome.

It'd be interesting

If the Cy were renamed the MVPitcher award. Halladay is crazy-efficient. Not sure anyone in the bigs matches him at this point.

He works so quickly too

No four hour games with Halladay on the mound (also very few three hour games).

He's kinda like a really good Mark Buehrle speed wise.

Like that game Buehrle v. Boomer Wells a few years ago that was a speedy 2 hours and about 20 minutes.

Like the anti-Rafael Betancourt.

Thank God that guy never was/made it as a starter. 5-6 hour games.

For a guy who averages 110+ pitches...

an 80 pitch count is not what you want to see in the bottom of the 7th.

Manage his innings in AA/AAA

Use him…wherever he could be most useful starting in August/September.
