Geez
Turn the game on just in time to see Kinsler go yard.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Crap!
Manny booted for arguing a third strike …
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
So, Papi-Thurston is the 3-4 punch for today...?

The man is no stranger to extra-base power.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
What DD said.
Though I imagine Coco would PH in a 9th-inning situation, potentially.

MFY 1B soon?

Ha.
If he could play 1B. Though, you could say the same about HGHiambi.

I love it. He's going to be a full-time (or platoon with CI) 1B in a couple years.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Lugo bitching about strike three
Unfortunately, he didn’t get booted …
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Don't know how unfortunately.
Though I guess all it would really do is end Dustin’s first day off. And get a better hitter in the lineup.
...on second thought…
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Another walk to Ellsbury ...
... ends up with him on third
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Wheelsbury.
Ha. ...I’m original.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
It's amazing how many balls end up in the OF
when Ells steals.
Hey. I'd rush the throw too, if I was bothering to make one. :)
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
I'd just hold the ball
My arm is worse than Posada’s right now.

AJ Burnett channeling

"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Toronto and Detroit
The two most overrated teams in the AL. If you combined the two, however, you’d have a great team.

Well, there is the two runs to complain about..
But he has settled down/in nicely.

Joltin Joe Thurston to lead it off.

No. Damnit. Less 2007 Drew. More 2008.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Of course. Their non-Benoit bullpeners are all at least "acceptable"
So not sure how good a thing it is that Millwood could be done fairly early.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"

Yeah.
I’m thinking we might see some PH love from Dustin today, if it’s still close later on.

Wake with the quickness. How many pitches now?
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Sweet.
Worst-case, he saves the bullpen some work.

Wow, that was a quick half of inning
I went for a beer, and it was over.

Kevin Cash bombs it
Then Lugo does the same, and it’s a tied game. Right?

I'm f'n deliriously hysterically pleased he got a single. I'll take a "not GIDP" from Lugo.

And no, he doesn't get credit for that crap.

I wouldn't mind seeing f'n Sean Casey at SS when Lowell comes back, so long as Lugo is out of the lineup.

See, a .266 BA isn't awful from your SS, so long as he's capable of taking...
more than 1 walk a month, or whatever it is.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Take away bunt singles.
And I think Coco would be in the negative…um…somehow.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Clutch hitting is what counts!
How many of Lugo’s hits are when it counts versus non-critical situations. Compare that to how much momentum he KILLS with his double play hits and strike out slooking. No comparison IMO!

Don't go defending Lowrie because he can't hit into DPs like Lugo can. :)
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Not sure about Jed in the two-hole anyway.
I mean. Eventually, that’s where he’ll be well-suited, but I’d rather see him in 7th-9th. Wacky idea? Cash to the 2-hole. Let’s make it happen.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
I can't imagine they'll pitch to Papi with this guy on deck

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
LUGO MUST GO
I absolutely knew Lugo was going to hit a weak ground ball to second or ss and probalby for a double play. The only reason why it was not a DP was Lugo’s speed. This knd of consistent bluddering kills momentum and spirit.
This guy may or may not be a nice person, I don’t know, but he is no major league baseball offensive commodity. This team can be great, but not with a bludderer like Lugo eating away its momentum and spirit. HE MUST GO AND SOON!
Yeah

have you seen the west though??
that spurs/suns game is a classic
is there anything tim duncan CAN’T do?? what a shot that was.
Well.
What he can’t do was “that” consistently. But it was an awesome shot.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
you'd be surprised
if you watch duncan at practice or shootaround, he actually makes those pretty often. he just never takes them during games b/c thats not what hes asked to do.
Eh. I was at the Celts-Grizzlies game in Memphis
And Scal was making those pretty often too. I’m sure Duncan could do it more often if they needed him to, but the fact that he can make them in practice/shootaround doesn’t impress me too much.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"

What about Steve McFat retiring? If McNair makes to the HoF, I’m done with football. He was a good player, and that’s all about it.
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
I wouldn't be "done with football"
If he did, if only because HoFs as a whole are semi-meaningless, and only carry the weight you yourself give them.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
And I have to admit to having some mixed feelings about McNair.
I live in TN, and the fact of him being the biggest star on, for awhile, the only major pro sports team in TN was pretty significant.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
I never liked McNair too much
He got hurt a lot, and part of that it’s his fault too. And even without the ‘tough’ thing, he was average at best.

They've
gone overboard with the toughness thing. He earned that co-MVP, had some nice playoff action, that’s about it. I can admit it.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Even the co-MVP
Wasn’t fair. You see the numbers, and Manning had a faaar better season than McNair that year. That’s like giving co-MVP to Brady and Romo this past season.
Ok, maybe NOT Romo, but another QB that had a good season.

It was a reward for
first full season with single-digit interceptions. I think I remember him being “anecdotally great” that year. A lot of stuff that the announcers/writers of our time would classify as clutch or gamer-y or something.

That they gave McNair a co-MVP because they didn’t feel like Manning could win shit beyond the regular season. :)

Somethings in life are obvious to me, and the drag Lugo puts on this potentially great offense is a sin. Just a sin. Francona if you are listening—PLEASE PLASE BENCH THIS GUY. HE IS POISONING AN OTHERWISE MONUMENTAL SEASON!

He was bitten by a radioactive spider
Bottom 9th B:1 S:0 O:0 With Bill Mueller batting, Dave Roberts steals (1) 2nd base.
He's, IIRC, from the southern US.
In the Southern US, a middle name that is also a first name often becomes the first name, in terms of how people refer to that person.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
They'reloaded for the Mayor
Wilson over 20 pitches …
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Bases loaded, and Casey up.
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
Hahahahahahahhahaaha
Bottom 9th B:1 S:0 O:0 With Bill Mueller batting, Dave Roberts steals (1) 2nd base.
Yes! Casey is the man!
And the best part is, they’re still loaded for CASH!!!
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
CJ Wilson has temporarily forgotten
that he’s one of the best relief pitchers in baseball.

An interesting conundrum.
Tek is basically Kevin Cash when the bases are loaded.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
I'd figure Oki or Paps at this point for the 9th anyway.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Yes,
but Kevin Cash is basically Julio Lugo with a bigger glove.

Wouldn't have minded some cushion.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Yeah,
that’s the most fun inning I’ve seen in a while.

He was crazy-efficient for the first several innings.

My Guess
Dusty -2B
Lowrie – 3B
Youk – LF

Cash
Why did we cut Dougie again?
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
Eh. Dougie might easily have done the same thing there.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Guess you're right
But Dougie at least was funnier… In a strange way…

quick question on who gets the win
is it pretty much whoever pitches the 9th?? (assuming a clean inning)
Nope. Wake is still the pitcher of record.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
how does that work?
wouldnt he have left the game with his team behind??
i will never understand how wins work
I think it comes down to whoever is
technically “in the game” when the lead is taken, if that makes sense.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Julius Erving is a doctor?"
Phew ....
Blalock almost tied it. Thank God it was foul.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Lugo is the prototypical

Never in doubt
I’m feeling a little unhinged now, though.

Bottom 9th B:1 S:0 O:0 With Bill Mueller batting, Dave Roberts steals (1) 2nd base.
let's not call it that
20 April already has more than a few not-so-cool [non-baseball] events tied to it.
"and THAT happened" -John Mayer announcing Pedrioa at-bat in Tokyo
You have a point.
But baseball’s baseball, and doesn’t count as real life in my book.

I'm with DJD
“Cult of April 20” could definitely give lots of people the wrong idea.
Though in college, pre-Columbine, 4.20 was actually a heck of a party.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
Cultural ignorance on my part, I'm afraid.
