Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees

As the Baseball Gods would have it, Clay Buchholz -- for the second time -- faces off against Chien-Ming Wang in tonight's Sox-Yankees match-up. Last time Wang, the Yanks' No. 1, was too strong and Buchholz, the Sox's No. 5, was good but not great. It's 5 vs. 1, but hey, we can do it.

Here's their stats:

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Clay Buchholz 0-1 3.27 1.36 10 5

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Chien-Ming Wang 3-0 1.23 0.73 11 4

And the lineups for tonight's throwdown:

Go Sox!!!

"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

yuck

I’m so thrilled I turned the TV on just in time to see Abreu go deep. :P

What the hell is going on?...

by Randy Booth on Apr 16, 2008 7:30 PM EDT   0 recs

at least he settled down?

I’m recording the game, not watching, so I can write a paper (joy!).

C'mon boys

Manny ain't the only bad man.

Keep These Walks Coming

Its unexciting but gets the job done.

by Gnick on Apr 16, 2008 7:42 PM EDT   0 recs

So I'm going to the game tomorrow

and sitting in the bleachers.

Will I get my ass kicked if I wear a Sox hat?

Manny ain't the only bad man.

by tommy.otm on Apr 16, 2008 7:42 PM EDT   0 recs

hmm

I bet it depends how vocal you are and much you “interact” if you know what I mean.

by 3000miles on Apr 16, 2008 7:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm pretty easygoing

and I won’t be looking for a fight. Especially with my wife next to me.

I’d like to fly my flag, but if it means not enjoying the game, I wouldn’t want to.

Manny ain't the only bad man.

by tommy.otm on Apr 16, 2008 7:51 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I've never been to yankee stadium

but if the sox bleachers are any indication it really depends on who you are sitting near and how much they’re drinking… I’d bring it and size up your neighbors, but perhaps someone who has been would know better.

by 3000miles on Apr 16, 2008 8:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I just asked over at Pinstripe Alley

They said it should be fine, that I’d probably get heckled but not punched.

Manny ain't the only bad man.

by tommy.otm on Apr 16, 2008 8:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

You'll be fine

I usually go & wear Sox gear & have never had an issue.

When I go for games that aren’t Sox/Yanks – I root against the Yanks all the time unless its the Mets then I hope for a tie.

Then again, I am female…take your chances like the Verizon commercials the “nation” is always with you.

Lugo's got 1 RBI so far this year

will he triple that with a swing of the bat?

Strike three Manny

Don’t get thrown out.

by tommy.otm on Apr 16, 2008 8:05 PM EDT   0 recs

That was filthy

More like that, Clay.

Nice hustle Tek

Again

Manny ain't the only bad man.

by tommy.otm on Apr 16, 2008 8:20 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

You know

We’re not hitting Wang any harder than we did on Friday. It’s just that the line drives are dropping. We hit him hard last week, but everytime it was right at someone.

Manny ain't the only bad man.

by tommy.otm on Apr 16, 2008 8:25 PM EDT   0 recs

Clay's getting squeezed.

only 4 runs down

we can make that up…

right?

omg

I walk away and all hell broke loose.

by 3000miles on Apr 16, 2008 8:55 PM EDT   0 recs

im not buying the Yankee bullpen is that much better...

than last year. No Joba, we can get another 4 runs.

Anyone else think C. Buchholz might need another half season in AAA?

by SoxAcumen on Apr 16, 2008 8:55 PM EDT   0 recs

Drew

is very very very much on fire right now.

by soxaholic on Apr 16, 2008 9:02 PM EDT   0 recs

Sox

Sox lineup will be crazy tough to get through with a healthy Lowell and Youk, Manny + Drew hitting this well.

by SoxAcumen on Apr 16, 2008 9:04 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Feast or famine

when Wang plays the Sox. Either he is amazing or he gets jacked

by SoxAcumen on Apr 16, 2008 9:02 PM EDT   0 recs

oh man, its looking like its going to be another intense bullpen night

by spinz on Apr 16, 2008 9:05 PM EDT   0 recs

wooooooooo tie, this is a wild one

by spinz on Apr 16, 2008 9:12 PM EDT   0 recs

give lugo credit

he kept the inning alive by striking out instead of hitting into a double play

by Tippecanoe on Apr 16, 2008 9:16 PM EDT   0 recs

For Lugo

that’s not inconsiderable.

by sdkramer.otm on Apr 16, 2008 9:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

lugo has 2 RBIs, in 13 more games

I think he’s earned a little patience.

by sdkramer.otm on Apr 16, 2008 9:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

the man who just struck out is NOT papi

maybe his knee is bothering him more than hes letting on?

by Tippecanoe on Apr 16, 2008 9:29 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

everyone but

Tek and Lugo had a base hit that inning

"and THAT happened" -John Mayer announcing Pedrioa at-bat in Tokyo

by DJDP23 on Apr 16, 2008 9:24 PM EDT   0 recs

Patience

Papi will get it back, he just needs more abs to find his swing again.

Sox can afford to carry Papi, now Lugo needs to go ASAP. They should of made that deal for O. Cabrera/Coco Crisp.

by SoxAcumen on Apr 16, 2008 9:25 PM EDT   0 recs

I'd trade Lugo

for a sack of balls, and a box of cracker jack.

by sdkramer.otm on Apr 16, 2008 9:27 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I completely agree

I love papi and it hurts to see him struggle, but he just needs time. Looked to me like his timing is off?

by 3000miles on Apr 16, 2008 9:33 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

fuck

this half inning

by Tippecanoe on Apr 16, 2008 9:31 PM EDT   0 recs

nothing really, earth left orbit for moment

no, really it was just bases where loaded it looked like we could get a double play to get out of the inning… jugo chucked it and everyone took a moment to watch as it rolled for a moment.

Thankfully he looks alright.

by Gnick on Apr 16, 2008 9:53 PM EDT   0 recs

instead of youk hurting his foot

hoolege

or as normal people say, “college”

by AZredsoxfan on Apr 16, 2008 9:59 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh yeah

Where do you go? I’m applying to colleges in the fall.

by Gnick on Apr 16, 2008 10:00 PM EDT   0 recs

Arizona State

It is great for partying and the fun stuff, but don’t go unless you are in engineering or business.

by AZredsoxfan on Apr 16, 2008 10:03 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

They have a great baseball team

I was thinking about U of Wisconsin or Boston College but the whole application process is really a crapshoot.

by Gnick on Apr 16, 2008 10:06 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

i hear you man

Wisconsin is like the #1 party school right now, haha. If i wasn’t in engineering and could go anywhere i think BC would be one of my top choices, but I would stay in Boston (you miss it real quick).
