GameThread: Red Sox (9-6) @ Yankees (8-7)
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees, Apr 16, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
As the Baseball Gods would have it, Clay Buchholz -- for the second time -- faces off against Chien-Ming Wang in tonight's Sox-Yankees match-up. Last time Wang, the Yanks' No. 1, was too strong and Buchholz, the Sox's No. 5, was good but not great. It's 5 vs. 1, but hey, we can do it.
Here's their stats:
And the lineups for tonight's throwdown:

Keep These Walks Coming
Its unexciting but gets the job done.

So I'm going to the game tomorrow
and sitting in the bleachers.
Will I get my ass kicked if I wear a Sox hat?
Manny ain't the only bad man.
I'm pretty easygoing
and I won’t be looking for a fight. Especially with my wife next to me.
I’d like to fly my flag, but if it means not enjoying the game, I wouldn’t want to.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
I've never been to yankee stadium
but if the sox bleachers are any indication it really depends on who you are sitting near and how much they’re drinking… I’d bring it and size up your neighbors, but perhaps someone who has been would know better.
I just asked over at Pinstripe Alley
They said it should be fine, that I’d probably get heckled but not punched.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
You'll be fine
I usually go & wear Sox gear & have never had an issue.
When I go for games that aren’t Sox/Yanks – I root against the Yanks all the time unless its the Mets then I hope for a tie.
Then again, I am female…take your chances like the Verizon commercials the “nation” is always with you.

Lugo's got 1 RBI so far this year
will he triple that with a swing of the bat?

You know
We’re not hitting Wang any harder than we did on Friday. It’s just that the line drives are dropping. We hit him hard last week, but everytime it was right at someone.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
only 4 runs down
we can make that up…
right?
"and THAT happened" -John Mayer announcing Pedrioa at-bat in Tokyo
im not buying the Yankee bullpen is that much better...
than last year. No Joba, we can get another 4 runs.
Anyone else think C. Buchholz might need another half season in AAA?
Drew
is very very very much on fire right now.
Man, harshin' on Papi already?
I think he’s earned a little patience.

everyone but
Tek and Lugo had a base hit that inning

Patience
Papi will get it back, he just needs more abs to find his swing again.
Sox can afford to carry Papi, now Lugo needs to go ASAP. They should of made that deal for O. Cabrera/Coco Crisp.
I'd trade Lugo
for a sack of balls, and a box of cracker jack.

I completely agree
I love papi and it hurts to see him struggle, but he just needs time. Looked to me like his timing is off?
frack!
this is giving me a headache

what did I miss

you don't want to know
no, seriously, you don’t.

nothing really, earth left orbit for moment
no, really it was just bases where loaded it looked like we could get a double play to get out of the inning… jugo chucked it and everyone took a moment to watch as it rolled for a moment.
got up to speed on Gameday
its only the 5th—wow

way thing are going now...
i see us ending the inning up by 4 ish, but still not comfortable with the lead at all.
first pitch tomorrow
might get pushed back a couple of months at this rate

We cannot afford a serious Youk injury
Thankfully he looks alright.

A-Rod drinks wine coolers and Jeter wears lipstick.
moreover
i don’t even know how to feel about j.d. drew being the most reliable hitter in our lineup.

Oh yeah
Where do you go? I’m applying to colleges in the fall.

Arizona State
It is great for partying and the fun stuff, but don’t go unless you are in engineering or business.

They have a great baseball team
I was thinking about U of Wisconsin or Boston College but the whole application process is really a crapshoot.

i hear you man
Wisconsin is like the #1 party school right now, haha. If i wasn’t in engineering and could go anywhere i think BC would be one of my top choices, but I would stay in Boston (you miss it real quick).

Is Manny for real
or is it an act? How can he not know the count?

I love Manny
but I get the impression he’s not real bright. Works real hard, but not real bright. Just my $.02

Tell me why the Sox keep Lugo??
Please?
Seems like he makes more errors than any shortstop in Baseball, and usually only hits in non-clutch situations. In clutch situations, he either strikes out (usually looking) or hits into a double play. Am I missing anything??
