Bowden, Masterson among first out of training camp

The Boston Red Sox made their first set of cuts today:

Red Sox optioned RHP Edgar Martinez and RHP David Pauley to Triple-A Pawtucket; optioned RHP Kyle Jackson and SS Argenis Diaz were optioned to Double-A Portland; reassigned RHP Michael Bowden, LHP Hunter Jones, RHP Justin Masterson, 1B Jeff Bailey, 2B Tony Granadillo and INF Gil Velasquez to minor league camp.

By the way, I win the bet: Argenis Diaz is one of the first that leaves the camp. I'm not proud of my prediction, but I made the call that I needed to make. I wish we could have seen some more of Michael Bowden and Justin Masterson, but I'm sure we'll see them at some point this season.

Being from NH, I would love to see Kyle Jackson return to AA but I think he is ready for AAA. Jackson appears to have the stuff and mentality to make the major league team sometime this year. I watched him pitch more then a few times at the ballpark in Manchester.

Also being from NH, I'd like to see Jackson succeed but he hasn't shown me enough yet. A few seasons ago he was HORRIBLE. Then he had a great season, and then another OK/POOR season. So I just don't know what to think of him. I think this is his make or break year.

I'm pretty sure there was no bet. If there had been:

I would have held you to Diaz being the first cut. And my guess is that his name wasn't the first in the press release. Only thing that can save you in losing this non-existent bet is some kind of proof from Theo or Tito that he was the first one informed/who had his papers signed.
