OAK @ BOS - GM 2 - 6:05 a.m. EST
Boston @ Oakland
I don't know about all of you, but I can't wait until this 6 a.m. thing is all over and done with. Yes, it has only been one game but my body is feeling it almost 24 hours later. I can't believe I'm saying this: bring on the 10 p.m. west coast games!
But first, let's leave Japan on a good note. Here are today's starters:
BOSTON
LHP Jon Lester - 63.0 IP, 50 SO, 31 BB, 10 HR, 1.46 WHIP
OAKLAND
RHP Rich Harden - 25.2 IP, 27 SO, 11 BB, 3 HR, 1.13 WHIP
This will be Lester's first visit to a mound that matters since winning the World Series last season. There's a lot of mixed opinions about Lester, but I wholeheartedly believe Lester is going to have a breakout season. His game four victory was just the tip of the iceberg.
Harden is looking for a healthy season after only pitching 25 innings last year. Harden is one of those pitchers that has a lot of talent but can't really do anything until completely healthy. Is he completely healthy? Not sure, but let's hope not to give us an advantage today.
I'm hoping for a quick game so we can get the hell out of Japan and get back to that simple routine of actually sleeping in the mornings. I think we all need a little bit more sleep after this series is done...

Sleep/the lack thereof
I've probably got about an average of 5-6 hours of sleep per night over the last week. I'm hoping I can make it through today without, you know, keeling over dead.

What a way to start the season
A pair of Japan games @ 6:00, a layoff, and then two more on the westcoast ...
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

I quite enjoyed the soothing feeling
that resulted from a Jason Johnson outing. There were no expectations of success, so there were no hopes to be dashed.

our anaemic catching corps.

Interesting use of MDC
in the seventh. Is this picking him for the highest-leverage inning? I thought he was the closer-elect today.

Well, they have the layoff so Francona said basically that anyone was available, including Papelbon.

OK; I guess I am out of the pool. I had the Sox going 162-0 this season.
I am really confused by this season. I just do not get why the games in Japan count (just as I didn't get the NFL game in London). Did the Yanks games count that year? I can not keep up anymore.
I also hated seeing corporate names on the team helmets yesterday. Is that new this season? I am soooooo confused. ..add in this new format --its all too much -- I could have a breakdown. Baseball season usally signals the return of my sanity.

Moss
Apparently someone went out impersonating Client #9 in Tokyo last night!
Was the ball in the mitt before even swung on one of those pitches?
