Breslow to Tribe
The Cleveland Indians claimed Craig Breslow off waivers and expect him to report to their ST major league camp tomorrow. Good thing he stayed in Florida...
Breslow is out of options, so the Indians added them to their 40-man roster.
Ah, well... with his departure, the collective intelligence level of the team shrinks; Breslow has a Bachelor of Arts from Yale in molecular biochemsitry and biophysics. He's said that if the "baseball thing" doesn't work out, he wants to go back to medical school.
That's one hell of a fallback plan, if you ask me...

I don't much like Cleveland, but I definitely wish him luck there.
Why don't you like the Indians?

It's mostly the racial issue
I don't really like having racial stereotypes as a team's logo. It doesn't seem right. (The Braves kind of annoy me too, on this point, though less directly--they don't have a red-skinned, big-nosed, feather-wearing head on their caps.)
But that's not just it--some of the players annoy me, too. I hold a particular (and somewhat irrational) dislike for Grady Sizemore. Garko's champagne comment still bugs me, for that matter, too.
I ignore the logo
I like the Indians as my 2nd team, purely because they're well-run and fun to follow over the years. They're sort of like "Red Sox lite" these days, but they've been doing good things with their farm system longer than the Sox.

Visiting from LetsGoTribe ...
What did you guys think of Breslow? There didn't seem to be much discussion of his being removed from the roster around here.
He seems to have a few things going for him, at least based on his numbers against lefties. Is your bullpen really so loaded that you could afford to let him go? And was he really the best guy to dump from the 40-man?
He's alright
I'd rather we kept him over say Javier Lopez. He never really got his shot here. But I don't really see him being more than a 6th or 7th inning guy.
And yes, we're that loaded. ; )
Manny ain't the only bad man.
+1
I liked Breslow over Lopez, too.

The Red Sox apparently did not.
