OT: Red Sox @ Yankees, 3.17.08

The Red Sox travel to Tampa today to take on the Yankees in their only match-up this spring. It'll be an exciting one to watch because Bartolo Colon is scheduled to start for the Sox. Most of the regulars are staying back in Ft. Myers, but Nick Cafardo said the following players will be suited up against the Yanks:

Bartolo Colon
Javier Lopez
Julian Tavarez
Craig Hansen
Jason Varitek
Kevin Cash
George Kottaras
Dustin Pedroia
Kevin Youkilis
Julio Lugo
Mike Lowell
David Ortiz
Chris Carter
Jed Lowrie
Bobby Kielty
Jacoby Ellsbury
Brandon Moss

In other news, Daisuke Matsuzaka will start opening day in Japan. Jon Lester is the starter for game two. More on this later.

Re: OT: Red Sox @ Yankees, 3.17.08
Pettitte, starting the game for the MFY, sat down Lugo, Pedroia, and Ortiz in order. Colon threw 42 pitches over 0.2 innings. Tavarez came in and got Melky Cabrera, the #9 hitter in the Yanks' lineup, to ground easily to Lugo.

It's 4-0 now, New York ahead, in the top of the second.

Colon did not locate his pitches. He supposedly hit 96 on the gun, though.

I was exhausted, so I didn't last through Colon's outing, but the first batter, Damon, he looked great against and hit 94. From there, all down hill...
