Smooth sailing, as well, for Sox prospects Craig Hansen, Michael Bowden, and part-time rocket scientist Craig Breslow.

On the hitting side, Dusty Brown reached base 3 times in 3 plate appearances, with 2 walks and a single. Chris Carter started and played the entirety of the 7-inning contest in left field. He hit a double, walked, knocked in 2 and scored 3 times.

Tomorrow? First Grapefruit League game for the Sox @ the Twins with Daisuke on the mound. Hideki Okajima, Mike Timlin, and Batshit McCracken are also expected to see work.

I know you know where Batshit comes from.

The "McCracken" has to do with his bowling stunts last season, after which, britsoxfan photoshopped Tavarez's head onto Bill Murray's body from Kingpin, whose character was named "Ernie McCracken".

and Julian Tavarez, can anyone explain this?

I think there comes a point when there's too much media coverage of players.

Also, I think Breslow's closer to brain surgery than rocket science - he majored in molecular biophysics and biochemistry at Yale. Medical school is his backup plan if baseball falls through.

Breslow has a B.A. in molecular biophysics and biochemistry and also was the captain of the Yale baseball team. That's probably one of the most impressive resumes you can have. And this part of the interview made me laugh:

RSN: You studied molecular biophysics at Yale. Can you make a good analogy between that and baseball?

CB: Boy, probably not.
