Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas all! Or happy holidays, to some of you, but anyway, I thought that everyone could make a list of their Red Sox wished for the offseason. I wouldn't recommend putting "Tex giving a big "hell no" to the Yankees and then coming to us for 10 mil a year", but, hey, it's your wish list.
- Sign Derek Lowe
- Trade for Teagarden
- Sign Tek
- Sign... Rocco!
And if you want, put some of the things you received for Christmas. I got a Wii!

How about...
#2, #3, and #4. Except for with number 2 we’d have to trade for Teagarden, but I’m all for that, too. By the way, how come Jeff Clement’s name hasn’t been mentioned by anybody? I guess he just isn’t available…

He isn't
I don’t think Teagarden is available anyway…
Mother---- him and John Wayne!

He's not
I dont see why Clement isn’t availible. He is blocked by Kenji Johjima.

And should be moving to 1B soon.

You know how we call most of our prospects "untouchable"...
Clement is better than all of them. He is almost actually untouchable. We can’t get him.

Yeah
But it would be so sweet to get him. He’s the all-time leading high school HR hitter. Just saying that the Sox have the all-time leading HS HR hitter would be awesome.

I'd be shocked if the Sox signed DLowe
They aren’t going to make their #4 starter their highest paid pitcher. Also, he is represented by Scott Boras. I would imagine the FO isn’t too pleased with Boras right now. Teix was a player they wanted. Theo isn’t going to overreact and sign a player just because the MFY got Teix.
As for Teagarden, I like him better than Salty. But I think the odds of the Sox getting him are pretty slim. The FO won’t part with Buchholz and Texas has little interest in Bowden or Masterson (assuming Theo would trade either one).
I think the chances are pretty good Tek comes back at a reduced rate, assuming the Sox aren’t pissed off at Boras. Theo likes Tek. So, I can’t see the Sox punishing Tek because of any bad feelings about his agent.
I don’t know what to make of Baldelli. If the Sox think he can play significant stretches if need be, they’ll probably make him an offer. I hear the Reds are interested in Baldelli.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

What about this....
Maybe instead of Buchholz or Masterson and Bowden or whatever combination is the rumored requirement for a Teagarden trade, does anyone think the Sox could pull it off with just a combo of our “B” or “B+” prospects? For the sake of curiosity pretend you’re Theo.
Daniel Bard, Casey Kelley, Che-Hsuan Lin, and Argenis Diaz. Daniel Bard would be the major piece. Would you guys think that would work?
Furthermore, who are the Red Sox’ untouchable prospects? I’m thinking Masterson, Lars, Buch, Bowden, Reddick, and maybe Kalish and Almanzar.

Doesn’t Casey Kelly have a trade restriction?

That's a lot of ponies for an untested horse.

Texas is just not going to trade Teagarden for anything less than one of our top prospects
Daniels is not dumb. They do not need Lin or Diaz, Bard is a fucking reliever and Casey is still too raw. I think Buch and Lars are untouchable, maybe Reddick as well. The rest of the guys in the farm could be traded.

Just Lars and Buch,
especially if we re-up Bay. Then we won’t really need an OF for a bunch of years. I know I’ve expressed this before, but I don’t think anyone is literally “untouchable”.

Agreed
I don’t think Lars and Buch are quite untouchable, but I don’t see a reason to trade both of them.

Buch is worth more than Salty
At least a Teagarden.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers out of your mouth!

Ooh...
Can we trade 3 Buch’s for a King Felix? Or is the exchange rate different?
