Congratulations

You just got yourself into ANOTHER absurdly long contract with a ridiculously high annual salary. You now have the top 4 highest paid players in baseball and still haven’t won a WS in 8 years.

Damn

I just saw the report to. Gnick, you’ve got to admit that this is at least a little devastating.

Yes, d-bag

The MFY are picked to win every year. Why should 2009 be any different than 2001-2008?

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Dec 23, 2008 4:07 PM EST up reply actions

No we didn't

We were rumored to have offered 170mil over the same time period, that is 10 million less. Also, we haven’t already spent just a little shy of $250 million this offseason.

by Gnick on Dec 23, 2008 4:50 PM EST up reply actions

dude,

as a yankee fan i think that “I Bleed Pinstripes” needs to shut the f**k up. his views do not reflect those of the general fan base. until we win something, this doesn’t mean shit.

LOSER

You ar a fucking dumbass . . . first of all its the offseason you dumb shit and if you all actually developed players it wouldn’t be nearly as important for you to sign FA’s . . .that being said the sox did want tex but I for one am damn glad they didn’t pay him that much. So enjoy your contracts and gloating about things that don’t matter until they bring results. Tex was not the end all be all for us nor is he for you all . . .when the season starts there will be three very good teams playing in the east, each built in their own ways . . .one will have the 4 highest contracts in mlb history, one will have a rotation of high draft picks from sucking for a decade and one will have a team built through player develpment and fa’s but not one of them is promised the world series . . .so shut the fuck up and be man enough to understand that you don’t know what will happen and are making yourself look like a bandwagon bitch. Sit on your hands and let real yankee fans debate with real red sox fans while you pull that dick out of your mouth and ponder your stupidity.

I knew you were 12

But I assumed you had passed the fourth grade where you learn that a guy who makes valid points is not proven wrong by leveling unfounded accusations against a woman you have never met . . . .I am not bitter . . .just pissed at you posting a whole note on another teams board and bragging about it to fans on the yankee board (who shoved it back in your face) . . .This offseason will not make or break the red sox . . . but it has shown you to be an immature bandwagon puppet (something both fanbases have way to many of). . .stick to your own teams board and next time be man enough to taunt in person you sniveling little child

If you want to talk about other sports

Lets talk about the fact that the Pats are still tied for the division lead without Brady, or that the Bruins have the most points in the NHL, or that the Celtics are in the midst of an 18 game win streak while the Knicks have been a fiasco for the last five years.

by Gnick on Dec 23, 2008 10:06 PM EST up reply actions

hey-i bleed

why is it that only yankee fans go around (on other team’s sites, etc) before the season has started basically saying that they have won already? i recall seeing this for something like the last 5 years or so. i never see fans of other teams do it-why is that? it can’t be that the yankees actually win, since we know that they have not even gotten to the second round of the playoffs (winning a grand total of 4 games in the playoffs) since 2004. don’t you want to wait until your nice new team actually plays to start making such proclamations?

your right buzzy

but i am confident that they have the pitching now, they havent had it in recent years where they blew their loads on randy johnson, kevin brown, javier vazquez, that all time greatest douchebag Clemens, if burnett can stay healthy i like our chances, plus wang is back and healthy and joba will be a starter and not converted mid season .. who would have thought Pettite would ever be the yankees 5th starter, i was always frightened by the BoSox rotation with Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefield (when his knuckler is on) and now possibly a horse in D-Lowe now the yanks have a rotation that can even compete with that, and be on that level think of the duels we are all in for this year

Sabathia vs Beckett
Burnett vs Dice-K
Wang vs Wakefield
Joba/Pettite vs D-Lowe

if this isnt gunna make the rivalry so much more intense i dont know what will

Pettite vs Lester

by I Bleed Pinstripes on Dec 23, 2008 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

Don't try to pull the cancer card. Nearly everyone knows someone who's had cancer.

And Lester would be closer to Burnett in the rotation.

Lester > Burnett

Lester’s 2008 – his first full season – was better than any season Burnett has had.

I didn't say he'd be worse.

Just closer. He’s in between CC and Burnett at this point, prolly because he shares the playoff explosion thing with CC.

I think Wang is better than Burnett too.

Burnett has good stuff, but he’s 31 and has never really put it together.

by BarryAve on Dec 23, 2008 4:32 PM EST up reply actions

?

what do you mean? i go to many other sites. i never see people on those sites saying “we are going to win.” have you ever seen someone on draysbay say “gee, we went to the world series and won 97 games last year, we are going to win next year!”? of course they would have more grounds to do that than a yankee fan would. interestingly, i was on pinstripe alley yesterday. i saw many posters in a thread state that the yankees would win the division…and that was before they signed tex. that is what i mean.

Sorry, Allen

We’ve had a delay. You see, my brilliant viral marketing plan backfired when all of the marketers got sick, so it might be a while before the book shows up in shelves. But you have my money-back guarantee that it will be available, in print or online, by the time the Kansas City Royals are hoisting their World Champions banner.

Hurry hurry!

Sign Manny too!!

After that, you guys should totally sign Adam Dunn and Brian Fuentes!

We should just call the 2009 Yankees the “08 Free Agent class”

by Charged on Dec 23, 2008 5:18 PM EST reply actions

nah

manny is a cancer and he will take a one year deal with some team that needs a bat, you guys got rid of him for a reason and if the yanks do sign them i definately lose my respect for that front office and expect the yanks clubhouse to burn, so in all they wont get him plus now with Tex at first we have to get rid of one of the OF/DH types swisher/damon/matsui/nady one has to go

by I Bleed Pinstripes on Dec 23, 2008 5:22 PM EST up reply actions

One of them has to go?

No way!

Just do one of them dirty like Bernie Williams!

by Charged on Dec 23, 2008 5:33 PM EST up reply actions

Hahaha

So Manny is a cancer and A-Rod isn’t??? I don’t think the MFY will ever win a WS until A-Rod is gone. He’s a plague and I wouldn’t want him to start past Aug. 30th.

by Brad West on Dec 23, 2008 7:03 PM EST up reply actions

Sorry to stir things up

But do you really think it’s ARod that is kept those teams from winning? I would actually say the complete opposite, that he has been the person that has brought them the closest to winning a WS since 2004. If I was to assign blame I’d say they’re pitching has been substandard and they play terrible defense, especially at two highly important defensive positions of SS and 2B.
