Mark Teixeira announcement today
According to the Washington Times, Mark Teixeira will make his decision today:
A major league baseball source has told The Washington Times' Thom Loverro that there will be an announcement today regarding the future of free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira.
While the source declined to discuss specifics, there are strong indications that the Red Sox will announce that they have landed the highly-coveted slugger, who has been courted this off-season by several major league clubs, including the Angels, Orioles and Nationals.
End the agony. Please!

I think he'll sign with the Nats
He would have already signed with the Red Sox if that’s what he ‘wanted’.
Mother---- him and John Wayne!

Can't believe he'd sign with the Nats
Tex is smart enough to see how inept and directionless the Nationals are as an organization. If he signs the reported looney tunes contract they are offering him, it will show that money was the most important factor. Boston is irresponsible enough to give him a 10 year deal and neither is Baltimore’s current management. Baltimore direction and a strong base to build on, but will probably have to offer him more money than Boston because Boston will give him an immediate title shot. If he signs with DC, they will continue to lose 90+ games a year and in a few years will make him a 21 million dollar scapegoat. He’s not going to sign with DC.

Why would Washington have the "scoop"
on this, if he wasn’t signing with the Nats? This doesn’t sound promising for Sox fans.
BTW, The Washington Times is one of the few papers that isn’t the typical loony left rag.

those left dinosaur rags
are being scooped again by the little ’ole Washington Times. I love it!
Just glad all this “Tex” nonsense will be over. You’d think this guy was Lou Gehrig.

Well, if that's true
it’s just another example of how screwed up MLB is and will continue to be without a salary cap like they have in the NFL, NBA and NHL, Congratulations, Yanks: with C.C., A.J., Tex and probably Manny, you bought yourself another pennant. IF this rumor is true, it’s another black mark for baseball. MLB is a joke.

Salary caps are stupid
They just lock in profits for owners. What needs to happen is an end to corporate welfare, where rich teams like the MFY get taxpayers to pay for their stadiums so they can make even more money.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Only in Major League Baseball
can a team buy itself, for the most part, 26 championships and playoff spots a dozen years in a row (until last year.) The Yankees have doing this since 1918. It wasn’t just Babe Ruth; they bought five or six of the best Sox players and….the rest is history. Steinbrenner bought more titles in the ’70s and ’90s and now his son is about to do the same. What a farce.
Money talks – and nowhere it is allowed to talk loudest than in MLB. Whatever the other pro leagues do -salary caps or whatever – it is a lot more of level playing field there than in baseball. I blame the rest of the MLB owners and their hapless commissione to keep allowing this travesty.

Win-lose
Yeah we won’t have his bat in the middle of our 2009 lineup, but honestly it’s better that we don’t have him going forward.

Digusting...Now I really have just one more reason to hate the Skankees. As if I needed another reason.

A-Rod is a plague.
I still don’t think they’ll win until he’s gone. I wouldn’t want him past the beginning of September.
