Headline of the Day Award: 'Sabathia is a jackass'

How would I be able to live with myself if I didn't put this on the front page of OTM?

Jay over at Let's Go Tribe doesn't mince words after his team's former ace C.C. Sabathia debuted as a Yankee today:

Look, it doesn't matter what his reasons were.  It doesn't matter if he's a great family man and loves his kids and all that.  It doesn't matter that he earned the right, or that most players go to the highest bidder.

You sign with the Yankees, you're a jackass.  It's that simple.

C.C. Sabathia is a jackass.  Him and that all-time great douchebag, Roger Clemens.

[...]

Here's one final good-bye, then, C.C.  We had a great run together.  You gave us some great seasons, the best career of any Indians pitcher since Sudden Sam.  You left us with a nice little cache of prospects, too.

But you're just another jackass now.

I love it. I absolutely love it.

Hmmm...

I can understand his anger. As a fan of a small market team it must be frustrating to lose great FAs all the time. On the flip side though, if I were a great player, I’d definitely prefer to play with a contender. Ironically though, you’d think the Indians will be competitive with their roster and obviously still having CC would pretty much guarantee them another 23-25 quality starts out of his arm each year.
Now Clemens…he is a wanker. Great pitcher, but still a wanker. I really can’t emphasise enough how much of a wanker I think he is.

If you want to play for a contender...

…you don’t sign with a third place team. If you want to cash out, you sign with the third place MFY.

Funny

but if he signed with the Sox the LGT crew would write the same kind of stuff.

The hatred grew by about 10x after they signed Sabathia and Burnett.

The comments section over there is pretty interesting.

A lot of stuff about how “Baseball is broken” and the such. Hard to disagree with them. Its definitely a league where team’s ability to succeed is mostly dependent on their ability to generate revenue. Being an Indians fan would be hard. Even though you have one of the smartest front offices in the league, you know you will have to have a few years rebuilding and losing every once in a while.
