PrintTake this with a grain of salt definetly. MLB Trade Rumors is reporting it. Some guy heard Dan Patrick say this on his radio show.

Not true.
MLBTR later stated that it was a misunderstanding. The radio commentator was offering a hypothetical situation in which the Sox would give Tex that offer.
While we’re on the subject, is that offer realistic? What do you think he will eventually sign for? I think he will get 8 years, $180mil. ($22.5MM AAV)
It depends on how desperate the MFY are
I could see them offering 8/$200M if they think the alternative is a lineup with Pedroia, Papi, Tex, Youk, and Bay for the next several years.

have no choice to sign Teixeira.
