Red Sox won't re-sign Timlin, Casey
Theo Epstein says a couple of Sox elders are done with the club:
Epstein said that Mike Timlin wants to pitch next season, but it won't be in Boston. Epstein found it remarkable that Timlin spent six seasons with the Red Sox.
Epstein also said he's informed Sean Casey that the team would address more pressing needs, which likely means Casey won't be returning.
I really like both these guys but it's obvious it's time for the Sox to cut bait. Timlin was just bad this season. I hope he finds success elsewhere, but I think a lot of us would agree that he should just retire. Casey was a solid backup, but the Red Sox have better options out there and with all this youth sprouting up, Casey is the odd-man out.

I dunno.
Maybe they tracked the direction of his hits and concluded he’d be a good hitter in Fenway. Keep in mind that he also plays in an extreme pitchers’ park.
Career numbers
Home: .225 / .289 / .369
Away: .270 / .318 / .484
Interleague: .276 / .320 / .464
So Greene hits alright with great power against the AL, and he hits okay with great power away from the capacious Petco Park. Bring him to a hitters’ park like Fenway, and he might blossom into a much better hitter. If he can hit .280 / .330 / .450 or better at Fenway, and put up similar road numbers, he’d be a fine addition.
Nabbing Greene might be the best return for Coco, and it might allow us to package Lowrie (who I really like) with others for a top-notch catcher.

I like Timlin
As a person, and as a bullpen leader. He’s always reportedly nice to fans and banters with people in the bleachers. I’m sorry to see him go, but I just don’t think he has much mileage left (if any). It’s time.
Coco Crisp for Khalil Greene makes no sense. I think Lowrie will serve us better.

On both.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Did Casey ever hit a homer for us?
For some reason, I remembered him as a power bat in Detroit. Oh well.
Oh yeah, and Timlin can come back at a bullpen/bench manager position IMO.

To Timlin.
Thank God! As for Coco for Khalil, no way. Coco really did well in the playoffs, and Khalil, as much as he would impress the female fans, would not fit in Boston, methinks.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
Oh, that's what it was supposed to be?
Greene would “impress female fans?” I didn’t realize that they went for the long blonde hair look. I know a lot of them were “impressed” by Tek and Lowell.

Lowell
Lowell’s Martin Scorcese eyebrows probably don’t help.

A little harsh on Timlin, wouldn’t you say BoSox415? Yeah, he had a lousy year, but for most of the past 6 years, he’s been one of the most reliable relievers to ever walk out of a Red Sox bullpen.

Timlin’s a great guy, and a big part of the Red Sox organization. I wish he would have retired as a Sox, but that’s not what he wants so best of luck for him.
Mother---- him and John Wayne!

Yeah, I know, but if it weren't for Timlin in 2008
We probably would have won the division, and could have played the Angels in the ALCS….
It was pretty cool, anyway.

That and the one-finger-salute has been dulled.

Sorry to anyone who is offended by this.
Take it off if you want, mods.
