Varitek Talk

Just more examples of the local radio station spoon feeding the great fans of New England what they think the Red Sox and Patriots organizations want you to hear.  Ass kissers is what they are. All of the sudden weei is on board with exploring other options at catcher. Why are they suddenly on board when for months they scoffed at the idea. They flipped because they're a patsy for the local teams and I'll tell you why.  A few weeks ago all you heard was you would be crazy not to sign him for the three years that's our Captain and he handles the staff so well. He means so much to the team  they said and there is nobody out there to get. That was the talk on the radio. Now that the Red Sox have made it clear that they're ready to move on and certainly aren't going to sign him for more than a year or two, and certainly not at 12 million per year.  All of the sudden all the weei guys are on board. The local media give the fans of this town a bad name. How do I know. When I  first moved to New England I turned on weei and every single guy on the radio wanted NOTHING to do with the Garnett trade. This was my first exposure to the sports scene in New England. I crapped my pants and couldn't believe what fools they were. They said he was too old, has never won anything and to give up the future for him was crazy. Of course they'll never admit it now, but I'll never forget it because it was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Now they talk about how he's the best player in the league. All you had to do was watch basketball to know what a MONSTER Garnett always was. I listened to them and their callers and believed the fans of New England were just as stupid. It has taken me a while to see that this radio station is poison for the reputation of the New England sports fan. They will turn a potential fan into a hater in minutes and do not represent the sophisticated fans of New England like they should be represented.

The same thing with Tex. For weeks they shot down the notion to get Tex because what are you going to do with Youk?, move him to third we said. Well  why would you move a gold glove first baseman to third base, and besides what do we do with Lowell would be the answer they gave. Get rid of him we said. Why? because he's an injury risk and is getting old. You're crazy they said. Now that it's clear the Sox are interested Tex and ALL OF THE SUDDEN the retoric on weei has changed dramatically. Now you hear how this hip injury is very worrysome and we should  move him, go get Tex and slide Youk to third. What a shock, flippity flop.

Wow ...

Great work, Louie. Fans who call sports radio are idiots. You must be the first person to discover that. Here’s another newsflash: most hosts on sportsradio are morons too. I’m sure New York area sports radio has it’s share of jackasses.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Nov 26, 2008 9:14 AM EST   0 recs

Actually in New York

They talk about sports, not just the local teams. Most of the guys on the radio in New York aren’t HOMERS who put a positive spin on EVERYTHING! Go online and listen to the difference. WEEI is more like the YES television network which is owned by the Yankees and guess what you might hear on that station. And there are idiots wherever you go and the blogs are no different than the callers on the radio.

I see things you don't see.

Louie's back.

OMG GUYZ

I hate Boston sports radio. And if you’re keeping score at home, the proper place to complain about Boston sports radio is on a blog that has nothing to do with sports radio of any kind.

So that was fun. There’s probably something better to do with your time, like I don’t know, f’n anything.

Louie. We’re about done here. Next post like this, you’ll be banned. You may not care about that, and that’s fine, but consider yourself properly warned then.

I'm not sure what he did wrong.

I call Shaughnessy an idiot all the time. And he is. Louie is like NG with a twist of lime (and the wrong hat).

That being said, I’m not sure what discussion or insight can be had from this rant, but I didn’t find it offensive.

It's that he contributes only troll material.

But he’s like a Yankee pinata

We are much too lenient here.

LtL has said some very offensive things in the past. If it were up to me, his body would be drawn and quartered, his head would be on a pike above the masthead, and his bones would bleach in the desert waste.

For example, there is this thread, where he comes on and accuses us of stealing the Nation nickname. He then proceeds to insult several members of our community. Namely, here and here.

I don’t come here to swap insults with trolls, or read their crap. At best, LouieTheLip contributes nothing to the discussion; at worst, he pisses people off and starts fights.

Hmm... hadn't seen the reponse to the baby punch pic.

Speaking of MassGal, she’s been missing for three weeks. She’s missing all the fun. And no, Louie, I’m not trying to get into anyone’s pants.

I'm fine with Louie insulting me though.

There's a huge difference.

LtL does it to be inflammatory, from where I’m sitting.

I think NG truly believes in what he says and, more importantly, isn’t doing it to piss anyone off, even if some people do get upset about what he says sometimes.

Not True

In the past maybe, but my anger was misdirected. I have toned it down and understand I need to treat each fan as an individual. Sometimes I put a messages out for the masses, but those messages are directed to the sheep. Not guys like Allan Chase who make sense.

by LouieTheLip on Nov 26, 2008 4:23 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

So Basically

You agree with me about the local sports talk. I am putting my message out to where ever there might be listeners and here is a place you might find them. If you read my message you would know that I called the fans of New England “Sophisticated”. My venom is not aimed towards the fans, but towards that station. My message is to the sheep who may listen and repeat what they here. Giving the fans of New England a bad name. Believing and repeating the propaganda they might hear on the big show makes the rest of us look bad. Also I would care if you banned me. I would like to post with my REAL screen name, but I do have many others and I will get my message heard regardless. Pats Pulpit has given up trying to ban me.

I see things you don't see.

Louie

what is your point on this site? Do you come to “inform”? Or is it to try to piss people off, and start fights so you feel like you are a part of something? Seriously, you have come closer to achieving the latter.

Well, I will appreciate for you to keep my zingers out of your mouth!

by LouieTheLip on Nov 27, 2008 7:34 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

I don't like Tek.

He’s a good player, but I never said I had a mancrush on him. That would be gay, first of all, and he is a little on the overweight side, IMO. No offense to any women out there!

Louie

Does anyone else imagine this guy as a being like 5 foot 7, 230 pounds, with a completely bald head using his laptop from his office at 7-11? I don’t know why but I just get the feeling he looks like some low level crime associate in an old Italian gang.

Get rid of Tek

I say we drop the idea of resigning Tek, and go for one of those up and rising catchers e.g. Max Ramirez

A couple was told to individually write a sentence using the words 'sex' and 'love.' The woman wrote 'When two people love each other very much, like Bob and I, it is morally acceptable for them to engage in sex.' And Bob wrote 'I love sex.'
