Dustin Pedroia wins AL MVP
It's official: Dustin Pedroia is the the 2008 American League MVP!
Just call him Mr. November. Or better yet, refer to Dustin Pedroia as the Most Valuable Player of the American League.
The second baseman of the Boston Red Sox continued his rapid burst into the national spotlight on Tuesday, when he was recognized with that impressive honor.
Though most pundits expected the race for MVP to be agonizingly close, Pedroia won in comfortable fashion, outdistancing a solid field that included, among others, Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis, Twins first baseman Justin Morneau, Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton and Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez.
This is the happiest day of my life ... I swear.

So happy
Obviously it was well deserved. I think he got lucky in that no power hitters (like A-Rod, Hamilton, etc) finished with very impressive seasons.
Dustin had a spectacular year, and hopefully there will be many more like it to come. Also, congrats to Youk for finishing third- i didn’t think he’d be that high.
Good for Dusty
Maybe I’m nitpicking the BBWAA at this point, but looking at the votes, somebody didn’t even have Pedroia on the ballot. There are 28 voters and he has 16 first, 6 second, 4 third, and 1 fourth. Weird.
Congrats to Dusty
I think the end of season awards are stupid. As long as the choice isn’t embarrassingly bad (like K-Rod), I’m OK with it. I found this article interesting:
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Congrat to Destroia!
BUT, Theo you could’ve locked up this guy for much cheaper price last off season, Now You/We have to SHOW HIM THE MONEY!!!
The only Red Sox fan in a country where nobody cares about basball!
Happiest day of your life?
The days of Game 4 in the 2004 World Series and the 2007 World Series pale in comparison? :)

A Good Year For MVPs
First, Albert….and now Dusty – Great!
Two worthy MVPs and good guys, too!
Happy day indeed
Dusty is a very nice player, and I’m happy to see Youk finishing 3rd as well. Between him, Morneau, Quentin and K-Rod, I’d take Dusty everyday and twice on sunday.
Mother---- him and John Wayne!
Happier than when
they won the Series in 04? You have to be joking. Right?

Wow, im shocked. I really thought mornaeu was going to steal it. This is a really nice light to the end of the season. To have pedroia win rookie of the year last year, and this year win a gold glove AND MVP. Very nice.
Lets not forget
He also took home the Silver Slugger. A grand offseason for Dusty.
After hearing all year about second basemen like Uggla and Utley, its refreshing to see that one stood out more then those and received the recognition he deserves.
Grats to Pedroia the Destroyah for a well played year! Lets hope for many more to come!
Hells YEAH!

Wow.
It’s nice to know that sometimes, everything works out. The Sox made it further than I expected in October, Pedroia was loaded up with Hardware, and Youk also got some recognition.
Now all that needs to happen is for the global economy to right itself.

MVP! MVP! MVP! you know it!
everyone was so high on hamilton throughout the year, but our boy showed em what it takes to win. Dust-TRoia was rock solid. i got an email that say the mlb shop will be giving 30% off your order all day tomorrow (11/19) in support of recent MVP winners..gonna get my DP gear.
Yay!
Now they just need to make a Dustin Pedroia Fathead! Good for Dusty, he will be my image now and forever. And ever.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
A few tidbits
Pedroia is the 5th second baseman in Major League history to have 200 hits, 50 doubles, 100 runs and 15 homers in the same season. He joins Charlie Gehringer (1936), Craig Biggio (‘98), Jose Vidro (2000) and Alfonso Soriano (’02).
That’s pretty good company.
What the hell happened to Vidro?

My favorite is when MLB.com tried claiming that K-Rod was the favorite, and then he finished 6th, thank goodness not even the BBWAA are collectively THAT dumb (although there was the one voter who was dumb enough to consider him number 1)
