About what I figured for tonight.

VS. a LHP means a good game to give Drew off. Lowell back in vs. the LHP, and there’s no reason for Cora to start 2 games in a row ever.

At some point he needs a

Tap on the shoulder/smack in the head about batting RHH like all the time now.

At his age, losing bat speed from his unnatural side (LH) seems pretty predictable, but the numbers don’t lie, and he’s been more than decent from the right side v. LHPs (.863). He probably wouldn’t be able to match that vs. RHPs, but any improvement would be awesome.

Jed's Minor League splits for 2008 are remarkable.

.794 OPS v. LHPs
.793 OPS v. RHPs

There’s some BABIP discrepancy there, though he hit more line drives vs. RHPs. I’m not sure we need to sell him on the idea of batting from just one side yet. He’s still in a normal adjustment period for the MLs.

Well, he's been weaker vs. RHPs lately, possibly all season in the bigs.

But his MiL numbers don’t bear out changing.

I’m actually all for switch-hitting as long as the player remains effective from both sides.

TBS HD Broadcast

Has anyone been having trouble hearing the announcers on the TBS broadcast on HD. It seems better now in the 3rd inning, but before this inning, the background seemed too load. Anyone else noticed this problem??

Did you watch him pitch? He looks rusty, not injured. Good break on the curve and good movement and velocity on his fastball. He wasn’t able to put em where he wanted most of the night. Should he have started the 5th? I don’t think so. But he didn’t look hurt at all.

Frank Caliendo does really good impressions.

I remember watching him on Mad TV. He was very funny. But this new show, I don’t know (never watched it). Judging by the quality of the writing for the ads, I’d say Frank TV is freshmanific, which is to say, lower than sophomoric.

Yeah. And really healthy his entire career too.

Might be the only 36 year old starter you could give a 3-4 year contract to and be not terribly worried about the length of the deal.

He hasn't been too bad.

Been giving the high strike, with not a lot of the pitchers today taking great advantage of it. Not fond of giving a lot of corner calls.
