Cubs looking for a lefty bat
Maybe Coco (S) or Ells (L) could fill that need?

Could happen.
Who do you want from the Cubs?
And please, nobody say something along the lines of:
“Lets just send them Crisp, Lugo, Sean Casey, and Bartolo Colon for Aramis Ramirez!”
God those ideas anger me.

Especially when
Casey and Colon are free agents. That’s one of the hallmarks of Yankee fans – ridiculous trade proposals.

There cool only if you put in the subject line
Crazy trade:

Cub fan perspective
As a Cub fan, I would like to weigh in on this topic. Yes, the Cubs are looking for a left handed bat, but I wouldn’t say that it necessarily has to be a power bat. There have been rumors that the Cubs might try to move Derrek Lee, which would open 1st base up for Micah Hoffpauir who should be that left handed power bat. Don’t expect Derrek Lee since he has a no trade clause, and would probably only accept a deal to the west coast.
There have also been talks that the Cubs might make another effort at Brian Roberts, trying to get that legitimate lead off guy to move Soriano down in the order. A guy from the Red Sox that might make sense is Jacoby Ellsbury. I would guess he would be hard to get. J.D. Drew has too bad of a contract for how often he is hurt. Coco Crisp might also be interesting, but I would still try for Ellsbury first.

The only problem I see is that yes, they do want a left-handed bat, but it sounds like they want more of a left-handed POWER bat. Coco, as we all know, does not fit that bill.
However, in the MLBTR post it says right field is a tough place to play. Well, Coco is one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. He could handle RF of Wrigley with his eyes shut. Sounds like it’d be a good match to me…

I think it's silly in general re: the Cubs.
They can’t sign a Dunn, Floyd, Ibanez, Giambi, Bradley, because there’d be no place for them to play defensively and/or they just can’t play defensively. Perhaps if Brian Giles is cut loose, or someone in the Cubs organization forgets that they have a wall for Bobby Abreu to be absolutely petrified about.
Someone like Crisp or Kotsay (or along those lines) doesn’t actually give them a “bat”. Have to think Fukodome will improve at least some, next season. Where would they put a LH bat? Soriano – Johnson/Kotsay? – Fukodome in the OF. Ramirez – Theriot – DeRosa – Lee – Soto in the infield and catching. Unless they’re really going to dump off Lee..

I seriously had to check a player page on Lugo to remember that he bats righty.
I’m thinking that this is a good thing.
