Congratulations to the Rays.
One hell of an ALCS, on the way to your first World Series appearance. To any Rays fans, savor the moment(s). As much as opposing fans like to imply as much, or to the effect, Sox fans have never taken such things for granted over the last few years. I know none of you will either.
{Longer post on tonight's game and the season on the whole, with obviously much more of a Sox focus, to come. Thanks to everyone on OTM for another great season and postseason. We'll be around all winter with opinions, horrible jokes (me), good jokes (ecoli), and overanalysis of winter moves (everyone)}

I said a lot in the ALCS game-thread
It went something like this:
a) Proud of this team
b) We were hurt like crazy
c) Fuck the Rays
d) Love you guys
e) Bring Lowe back
:)
Mother---- him and John Wayne!
It's obvious that you needed Manny.
That’s basically it. Good season though.

Not sure that's a terribly keen observation.
Have no idea how everything would’ve turned out w/r/t Manny if he hadn’t been traded. We only really know how this worked out, and it ended up with us losing a 2-run Game 7 with the winner going to the World Series.

It was a good season.
But you’re wrong about needing Manny.
Jason Bay:
ALDS: .412 / .474 / .882 2 HR
ALCS: .286 / .464 / .476 1 HR
Besides the fact that Bay hit really well, we have no guarantee that a) the Sox would’ve made the playoffs with Manny (he wasn’t happy here, as he was in L.A.), b) Manny would have hit better than Bay.

- Jason Bay, on getting spiked scoring the winning run in ALDS Game Four.
were there any fielding screw ups in left field? were there any baserunning gaffes by JBay?
did you enjoy his HR barrage in the ALDS?
JBay is just as good overall, doesn’t bring headaches, and costs less. Good trade.

I've enjoyed watching Bay, myself.

gratz to the Rays
the Sox and Rays were very closely matched all season. Garza just pitched a little bit better than Lester today.
A frustrating season given all the injuries this year. Remember when Schilling and Colon were supposed to be part of the starting five?
I hope people don’t dwell on the Manny issue. I have always been a Manny fan, but he didn’t want to be on the Sox any longer and it doesn’t make any sense to talk about “what if”.
Colon was fine until he decided he could hit in Philadelphia way back when.
I wish he hadn’t burned that bridge by going home, wouldn’t have minded giving him another 1 year (with higher base) plus incentives based on his results starting this year.

Kudos to the Rays
The better team won.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
It was a battle of equals
Someone had to win, and this time, it was them.
But they required a game 7, and had the advantage of playing us without Lowell and with only half a Beckett. They just had the advantage of getting everybody back at the right time, while we had people going down in the final weeks of the season.
Not related,
but brit, I laugh my a. off every time I read your sig. Don’t change it unless you find something a lot better.

Haha!
I remember when this was BostonNation’s blog.
The price we pay for the Red Sox’s continuing success: a golden age for trollery and asshattery.

Well played, Rays
Hats off to the Rays and Matt Garza, who pitched a hell of a game (despite being a head-hunting jerk early).
I’m glad that the suffering of the life-long Rays fans—all five of them, born in 1986—could finally be put to rest. In seriousness, I do hope that the Rays success finally engenders some sort of permanent support for the team. They’re good and deserve a fan-base.
Here’s looking forward to next season when both the Red Sox and Rays should only improve.

Kudos to them.
What I would have liked to have seen: A series where we had Schill kill, Lowell, and Beckett at 100% (can you say “perfect game”?)
Great series. What everyone wanted. Can’t say what everyone expected (Lester going 0-2, Garza seems like he got the Rays only wins)
I will be writing a big blog soon, No-homework day.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
