Sox sign Dan Kolb, Dan Miceli
We've been waiting weeks for any sort of real Red Sox news. I guess you can call signing Dan Kolb and Dan Miceli real news.
Kolb would get $650,000 if he's added to the major league roster and $78,000 in the minors. Miceli would make $650,000 in the big leagues and $84,000 in the minors.
Both pitchers can earn performance bonuses as well.
One word: depth. That's all this is. I would actually be really surprised if Kolb, at least, is still a Red Sox come May. I don't think he'll want to stick around in Pawtucket.

"Kid, get that head/slider of yours screwed on right. Or you'll be bouncing from city-to-city making a high 5-figure salary to throw a baseball."
I'm not sure how much he's going to learn from these two, come to think of it.

Re: Dan Miceli
Miceli was with the Devil Rays in 2006. He went 1-2 with a 3.94 ERA and four saves in 33 relief appearances. Now, I'm not sure what teams he pitched against, but that ain't bad in the AL East. If he can recapture some of that juju, Miceli will be a decent addition.
Kolb's last, good season was in 2004 pitching in the NL. I hold out less hope for him

Yeah I know that info was kind of useless, but maybe that will be the Aflac trivia question during a game where he pitches.
