My math may be a little off, but Santana's $20 million would buy the Sox 30.769 Dans at the major league level, or around 250 in the minor leagues. It's good to know that if the team doesn't acquire Santana, we've got starters 8-37 taken care of.

Miceli was with the Devil Rays in 2006. He went 1-2 with a 3.94 ERA and four saves in 33 relief appearances. Now, I'm not sure what teams he pitched against, but that ain't bad in the AL East. If he can recapture some of that juju, Miceli will be a decent addition.

Kolb's last, good season was in 2004 pitching in the NL. I hold out less hope for him

Also, kids, these guys are coming into camp competing with the likes of Julian Tavarez "Relief Pitcher", Kyle Snyder, Craig Hansen, and Javier Lopez. They're not competing with the 4 at the back end, so I think the chances of one of them sticking is pretty good.

I wonder if Dan Kolb is related to Eddie Kolb. Eddie pitched for the Cleveland Spiders around 1900. He gave the team a box of cigars to pitch, he gave up 19 runs and that was his only major league game.
