For today's game (8/22):

Player of the Game: Drew

Matsuzaka's Line: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

Above and Beyond: Jackson's been pretty decent since the last time we pounded him (July 4), but he's going to lead the Tampa staff in yielding at least 6 runs and 12 hits today.

Re: Open Thread: 8.22.07 @ Tampa Bay
The Rays' announcers tell me that J.D. Drew has opposite field power.

Actually ...
It's opposite-league power.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Heh.
Just my two cents. Keep the change.

Re: Open Thread: 8.22.07 @ Tampa Bay
I'm not even that worried about him, at this point. I do think Manny should've been the hitter, because at least you do have Cash to back him up, even if all our backups at other positions are used up.

Re: Open Thread: 8.22.07 @ Tampa Bay
As in, batting Manny for Tek would've have left us without a catcher, as batting him for Lowell would've left us without a 3B.

Re: Open Thread: 8.22.07 @ Tampa Bay
How can you not be worried.  He is a gifted catcher in the sense that he is prepared and knows the batters and works well with pitchers.  But at some point, the Sox need to deal with his offensive production (or lack of).  More often than not he kills a rally or looks plain awful at the plate.  Look, I love the guy but at some point winning is most important.

I have been harping on this and every time I talk about the NON clutch hitting and the LOB, people give me crap...

I'm curious what Matsuzaka's era is in his losses. It seems like he's lost a couple 2-1 games. Of course, he's been blown out a couple time too.
Just my two cents. Keep the change.

more than a couple, I'm pretty sure. There were a few in the july stretch, I think.

Here.

The Sox have scored 21 runs in DK's 10 losses.

Just my two cents. Keep the change.
