Man. Papi with the homer before I can even get gameday audio working at work. Neato.

Re: OT: Sox @ A's: Can Schill Avoid The Sweep?
It's amazing that a player who has been around as long as Kendall, could put up half of his total career XBHs against one pitcher.

Re: OT: Sox @ A's: Can Schill Avoid The Sweep?
Strike 2 on Chavez looked about 15 inches outside, according to Gameday. Anyone watching confirm?

Relax dude. We're only through 3 innings. You're letting the past games screw with your head. Just breathe.

Re: OT: Sox @ A's: Can Schill Avoid The Sweep?
He's been good, but he's been getting most of the calls. (Notably, outside corner calls, inside has been pretty fair from what I've seen) OTOH, Blanton hasn't been as lucky and we haven't been able to cash in.

If the umpires are trying to give us a gift for yesterday, then the gift should be an investigation into why some of this crew still have a job. Ultimately a poor job calling balls and strikes now two days in a row, and I guess both sides have benefited, but I mean. What are we paying these guys for anyway? ;-)

Re: OT: Sox @ A's: Can Schill Avoid The Sweep?
I've only got Gameday audio while I'm at work so I'll take your word for it. But they've been pretty consistently making bad calls in every game I've seen. I'm glad Francona finally said something. Even if he did get ejected.

Re: OT: Sox @ A's: Can Schill Avoid The Sweep?
This is absolutely true. I just feel like one or two of the calls he's gotten haven't even been borderline. But on most days, with most umpires, good or not, fair or not, a guy like Schill gets corner calls more than a guy like Blanton.

Can someone tell me what Lugo has done? He's been crap all year as far as I can see. I don't see any promise in him.

Against this A's team is as good a chance as you could ever get for a no hitter.

And Lugo too. If not for his error, it would have been a perfect game. And yet another 0-fer doesn't help.

Ryan Dent, a super-athletic shortstop out of high school. Sadly he won't be ready to take over from Lugo for a while.

Re: Second pick is
Next pick at 84, if I'm reading it right. Last year I seem to recall that we had a solid first few rounds, then really starting opening up with big-money signings later on. Perhaps we'll see similar this year.

Oh by the way, Dent was our pick for Foulke. Who retired. So thanks, Indians!
