Welcome Back Timlin
Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks featured the return of the much reviled Mike Timlin. So there it was, bottom of the 8th, Sox down 2-1 with the right-handed pitcher taking the mound to relieve Javier Lopez. Everyone knew he would change everything, and probably not for the better.
So the first pitch goes out and it's a bunt, right out in front of the plate. Timlin goes rushing after the ball and whips it to Youkilis at first.
It should be noted that "whips it to Youkilis" is only true if by "to Youkilis" we mean "completely over Youkilis's head." It's a three base error with the two inherited base runners scoring.
Timlin then proceeds to walk a guy, followed by a pop out, a foul out, and a single that brings the error home.
Finally, the last batter gets caught looking and the terror that was Mike Timlin sits himself back down in the dugout to watch us now loose a 5-1 game instead of a 2-1 game.
A job well done. No earned runs, and a WHIP of 2.0 for the day.
