Pedroia with his first home run of the season, and his average is up to .250 with the run he's been on 7 hits in his last 10 at bats). 4-1 Sox, go Dustin!

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Becketts giving up a homer and 2 doubles, is he having any issues?  They seem to be hitting the ball hard.

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
They seem to be really aggressive; swinging on the first pitch a lot. Beckett will settle down. His curveball looks fantastic.

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Good to hear it.  Bit hard to watch the game from Sydney whilst at work.  Nice to see that he using alot more of his pitches.  He's always had filthy stuff, he just needed to use it right.  Pedroia seems to have settled now also. Did he make any adjustments at the plate in the last week or so?

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Remy has been talking about Pedroia cutting down on his 'big' swing when there's two strikes. He pulled his HR tonight, so he really didn't 'cut down' and go the other way. Hey, whatever works.

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
I love Victor Zambrano. Can he ALWAYS pitch in the AL East?

Back to back! Lowell and 'Tek!

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Zambrano is yanked.  4 HRs in 2 2/3 innings, including ones from our #2, 6, 7, & 9 hitters.  We've got lots of time to get one from the other starters (none so far from the 3-4-5 hitters!) -- has any team ever had homers from all nine of their hitters in one game?

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Here's a fun stat:

Beckett: 31 pitches in 3 innings. 22 of them have been strikes.

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Now your all just getting greedy.  I'm happy with an 8-1 scoreline.  Its good to beat up on the Jays. I haven't researched it, but for the last couple of years they seem to be the Sox bogey team.

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
In reality, I'd love to save all these runs for another day. 8-1 with potential for more? Let's save 5 of those, please.

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Hypothetical wet dream.  You're the manager...how many innings after 5 do you let Beckett throw?  Up to 80, 90 pitches?  Give the middle relief some work?

Re: Open Thread: 5/8/07 @ Toronto
Let him throw until the 7th, at least. I would've been fine with him out for the 8th, the way he was going.
