I kinda thought it would be 6 outs for Oki and 5 for Paps, but 7/4 is fine too.

Have we seen the last of Curt Schilling at Fenway?

Yep, and even though he's a blowhearted, conservative git, he helped bring us our first AND second :-) championships in a long, long time.
Thanks Curt, me and the rest of the fans will always buy you a beer if we see you around.

pickoff
That's comical really, I didn't even realise Paps had a pickoff move.  The games I've seen him, its pretty much indifference to whoever is on first.

It's hard NOT to, actually.

You think the ball's going forward, and you NEED to go forward, and if the ball comes up the way it did, you're toast.

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
Not a great offensive game for us, but the Sox made their bullpen throw about 150 pitches in two games. If they can keep it up, this could be the last game of the year at Fenway.

Paps blows another fastball (97 mph) past Hawpe.

Kinda sad to be the game ending batter (struck out) two games in a row.

we'll see. Either way, I'm glad I'm not a Rockies fan.

Can we please do sommething about all the men LOB? When they hand you 7 walks you should club them over the fuggin' head with them.

by sdkramer.otm on Oct 26, 2007 12:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Re: Sox are gonna need...
That's what I mean - the Sox had "enough" hits for the 2-1 win, but with just 3 or 4 more hits, the game turns into a 5-1 or 6-1 game.

But in Denver, a 6-1 lead is only safe if the game has ended.

Re: Sox are gonna need...
Can we please do something about all the men LOB?

Last night was not a good one from this respect (LOB) for the sox, and they were fortunate to pull it out. In fact, I had to take an extra drink to make it happen.  Anyway, I have to say that something has to be done about Julio Lugo from both a pure hitting point of view and from a baseball judgement point of view. I have never seen a guy so "out-of-touch" with good baseball actions and judgements on a championship team in my life, nevermind his haphazard (at best) hitting abilites.  It is almost embarassing.

No matter what happens in this series, I sure hope there is another destination for Lugo next year!

Jiminez pitched very well i tip my hat. We still have alot of work to do but atleast we have Fenway guarenteed at very worst. Just give Lowell a extention guy earns that check everyday.

very well is a bit strong IMHO. 5 walks over 4.2, I mean come on.

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
I felt like we did the same thing against him as we did against Carmona, namely, his pitches looked good but we did what we needed to do to make a tough starter a non-factor. The walks are a problem with Jimenez, and we were able to expose that as a problem and run his pitch count up.

I think he has a bright future, given how his pitches looked for the most part, but he did not have a good start tonight, some of that is on him, and some of that is a credit to our lineup.

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
Sydneysox... cmon now yes the Mets are not a winning franchise but as a New Yorker all Met fans love the Redsox can't tell you how many times a Met fan compliments my Sox apparell followed by Yankees suck. Not all of NY is bad bro just 90% lol.

by BelieveinBoston19 on Oct 26, 2007 12:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
yeah, I can see that.  I've got relos in NY who are Mets fans and despise the Yankees.  My point being is that these 2 guys were offered solid contracts with fair years involved(3 years I believe was offered for both), yet they both took the extra year and a few extra mil per.   It was greed and only greed, now we are laughing all the way to another title.  Try as they might, you just can't buy those championships....wait we have a massive payroll don't we :-)
But seriously, whether you make $60mil in your lifetime or $75mil, it really doesn't make a difference, either way its a sh-tload of money.

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
And you get down to it, sydney, and it really worked out for the best for us in both cases. Pedro has been undependable in terms of health (though was excellent down the stretch for the Metropolitans), and if we still had Damon for two more years, I can guarantee you we'd be playing him in CF next season and probably trading Ellsbury. No thanks. Also, if we still had Pedro, we wouldn't have Clay. I'll take Clay for now, thanks, and I'm sure you do too.

I'll give you a little heads-up here, I guess, but I figure before FA starts I might write a couple posts from an I/O or employment psychology vantage point. Bottom line is, for most people, working conditions, success, and job satisfaction/performance all rank above money in importance, assuming the difference in money is not significant.

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
Don't get me wrong, I had a man crush on Pedro for as long as I can remember and I always liked Damon even from his KC days.  Our front office was pure genius in only offering 3 year deals as they are both done right now.  If Damon had re-signed he'd have one more year with us and the Ellsbury question would've have definitely come up.  We all knew Pedro had only two, maybe 3 more effective years, but the Mets got stupid.  I agree with you though, I would like to think most people would trade lifestyle/work invironment over the extra cash.  I do, its why I live here.

Re: GT: World Series Game II Part II
Pedro is shot as much as we love the guy if you top out at 86 mph in the AL your going to get hurt. As much as I can't stomach Dice-k he's a better long term investment then Pedro. Besides Pedro comming to the good NY team keeps the Yankees out of the back page and out of my face alot i'm not mad he's gone.
