That fact that he is getting surgery on it shows that it has been a factor in his poor performance this season

Re: Open Thread: 9.22.06 at Toronto
Also, Tavarez threw a mere 6 pitches in the first. He has been so much sharper as a starter.

Re: Open Thread: 9.22.06 at Toronto
Methinks Mr. Tavarez may have earned a shot at starter next year.  What's this, his 5th great start in a row?

Julian goes ALL. THE. WAY.
For a 7-1 win on only 99 pitches. 7 hits, 1 BB, 1 K. Gonzo racks up 3 RBI, 2 for Lowell on his HR, and 1 each for Pedroia and Loretta.

Tavarez has been extremely impressive in his starts, and if he can pull out another quality one before the end of the season, I would not be opposed to him trying out for a spot in the rotation next year. Not sure where he'd fit in with Schil/Beckett/Wake/Paps (?)/Lester (?) but if Lester can't make it back for the start of the season, I'd say give him a shot.
