AL East Projections

If you're looking for one more look at what players may or may not do in 2006 (for fantasy purposes, or just to see who is where), be sure to check out my 2006 Projections for the AL East. (I have some very positive outlooks for several Sox hitters) It was Part 2 of my Fantasy Perspectives. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

You can find it by going to http://www.sethspeaks.net/013106.htm.

Thanks,

Crisp/Damon
And just where did you get your numbers. On the one hand, you say Crisp will be better than Damon, but your numbers tell quite a different story.

You say that Crisp, coming into his prime while moving to a hitter's park from a pitcher's park, will lose 50 points of OPS from last year, his batting average dropping, his power dropping.

You say Damon will add about 10 points to his OPS.

Can you explain how Crisp will be a better hitter than Damon with an OPS 60 points lower?

Well...
To his credit, he does say directly that THIS YEAR he thinks Damon will be better, but that by next year and the years beyond Crisp will be a better player with better value.

That's not to say though, that I agree with his projections -- I actually disagree with probably 85% of them.

comparison
Thanks for the comments.
I was going to look back and verify that I did say THIS YEAR.
First, I make no claims that my projections are accurate. I just figure that neither are the 'real' projectors.
I try to take previous history and ballpark and surrounding lineup. But I also try to think like the ballplayer. There is a lot of pressure on him as Damon's replacement. I envision him pressing a little at first and having to catch up.
I also think that Damon has the ability to crumble quickly. He'll be fine in the Yankees lineup for another year or two, I think.
Big picture, like all projections, they're really nothing more than glorified guesses. Although I'm a huge Twins fan, I like to think that I have a grasp on everything big leagues. I do the projections as much to remind myself of who is where. And then I like to see what people from the other team's think, just to try to learn more.
