Around SBN: Is FSU Really The ACC's Most Valuable Team?

Open Thread: 8/31/05 vs TB

My apologizes for the open thread coming just a little late, but dinner was a long one tonight.

Tim Wakefield (13-10, 4.38 ERA) is back on the hill for the Red Sox tonight. Wakefield looks to give the Sox the series victory with a win tonight. For Tampa Bay it is former Red Sox great Casey Fossum (8-10, 4.76) who is having an average season.

Lineup:

J. Damon CF
E. Renteria SS
D. Ortiz DH
M. Ramirez LF
K. Millar 1B
D. Mirabelli C
B. Mueller 3B
G. Kapler RF
A. Cora 2B

I can't tell what time you posted that....
... but Kevin Millar just homered again.

Hey, he got hot last year and stayed that way, knockingwoodknockingwoodknockingwood.

Would it be irresponsible to say that?
It would be irresponsible not to.

Hey, off-topic, but...
... the NY Times ran a story about the Sox maybe going after Trachsel, before conceding that there doesn't seem to be anyone the Mets would really like to have in return.  Whatcha think?

RE:
I don't want anything that once, or does, reside in New York. Traschel isn't much of an upgrade over any of our pitchers.

yeah I saw that
But I refused to comment anymore after Wake gave up 2 HR. I thought I might be a jinx.

that would be
the greatest thing for us... except if, maybe, we had a bullpen, that'd be cool too.

i want him to keep it up as much a anybody.

all .300?
just a thought --

If Manny, Eddie and Trot get hot for September, we could end up with all 9 starters with BA .300+. While not nearly as fun as a division championship, it would be fun.

A little home cooking might go a long way...

RE:
This assuming Olerud is a starter, correct?

My boy Bill Mueller is HOT. He just keeps hitting that ball and has gone from the .240s to the .300s. He's valuable; that's for sure.
