Dodgers sign Grady Little

The Los Angeles Dodgers have hired Grady Little to manage their team.

No problems here. Good luck with your newly acquired team. Have fun with Derek Lowe, too. I'm sure he's going to love being back with you.

What is everyone's thoughts? Good move? Bad move?

Eh
If the McCourts want to move back to a more traditional approach to baseball strategy, but reasonably intelligently applied (modulo LCS brain farts), Little is a fine choice.  Managers make less difference than one thinks, usually.

Grady
Will handle the pressure of LA fine. It never really bothered him in Boston, though he took offense to being run out of town.

I suppose he's a fine choice, though I liked DePodesta better as a GM. I didn't agree with everything DePodesta did, but that guy had cojones.

Juan Pierre a Cub?
The Florida Marlins have tentatively agreed on a four-player deal that would send Juan Pierre to the Chicago Cubs, for three young pitchers: Sergio Mitre and prospects Renyel Pinto and Ricky Nolasco. The deal is pending physicals examinations.

Do you guys know anything about these pitchers? I've heard of Mitre, but not the others.

The fire sale continues... I'd hate to be Willis or Cabrera.

For the sake of statistics, Pierre hit .276 and stole 57 bases this past season. He is eligible for arbitration and made $3.7 million last season. He's 28 yrs old.

RE:
At this point, I don't think it matters who the Marlins get: they are stocked with young talent afte r all these trades.

Cabrera and Willis must feel so lonely...
